Request To Change My Name Tied to My Best Buy Account

I used to only shop at Best Buy sparingly until I found out about the most amazing membership program I've ever come across, Gamers Club Unlocked!  The benefits are beyond awesome and I regret not having found out about this when it was released.  I've only been a GCU member for mere weeks and have gone on an exhilarating shopping spree; I've come to a decision that I now want Best Buy to cater to all of my gaming needs indefinitely and am very much looking foward to achieving Elite and Elite Plus status!  To further maximize my potential savings, I wanted to get a Best Buy Visa credit card.


However, I've run into a problem... The name I chose when creating My Best Buy account isn't my legal name.  I pretty much never use my legal name in any aspect of my life if it can be avoided, as I prefer my nickname far more and have become accustomed to using it my entire life.  So when I went to apply for the credit card, I noticed that the name fields had already been automatically filled out to match My Best Buy account name.  When I tried to change it to my legal name, I noticed the warning that doing so would effectively force me to create a new Best Buy account to associate it with, thereby taking away all of my accumulated rewards points and GCU membership.  I noticed the sticky on this forum about merging My Best Buy accounts, but saw that it could only be done if the two accounts have matching identical names.


So, I need to have my nickname on My Best Buy account changed to my legal name in order to properly apply for the credit card.  I can provide all the information necessary to prove that I am the owner of the account.  Some assistance with helping in this matter would be greatly appreciated!

As you may read in similar threads, you are not going to find the option to change the name tied to your My Best Buy™ account online because it does not exist.  That is where I can help though.  I see no reason why the name currently tied to your account cannot be updated from your nickname to your legal name.  Just keep in mind that I will need to gather some sort of paperwork from you that proves you go by both names.  Please send me a private message with the information listed below, by clicking on the blue button in my signature, and I will see what I can do to further assist.
