Reduced points

I purchased a laptop worth 799$. After 10 days or so from placing the order, it showed that 399 points pending. But now I see only 149 points are added to my account. May I know the reasons for the deduction. If these are the correct points I should be receiving, how are the points calculated and what do the pending points imply?

Did the price of the laptop drop, or did you get a price match applied that dropped the amount you actually paid?
Normally the pending points are 0.5 points per $ spent, less any gift cards or reward certificate used. It's interesting you used the words "worth 799$" because this makes me question how much was actually spent.
The moderator can look up your order and determine why you received less.

Seeing such a drop in points would be incredibly discouraging, and would understandably leave someone confused. With that said, I was able to take a look at your membership using the details you registered with the forum. 

Currently, it appears that you were awarded 399 points for your laptop purchase. As a My Best Buy core member, you receive 1 point for every $2 spent. Also as a core member, certificates are automatically issued for the maximum amount your points will allow after meeting your selected preference, which may be modified on your Rewards Overview page after signing into BestBuy.com. It appears that you had a $5 certificate (250 points) issued as your current preference is set to $5. Keep in mind that, unless otherwise noted, certificates expire after 60 days. 


Given this information, it appears your current point balance of 149 would be correct. If you have any questions, please let me know!
