Points Gone

Hello, I am a program member for the reward zone program and I checked my account today. Something seemed different. I had about 1,700+ points and now I have 23 points left. When I navigate over to my points and purchases it states that 1/12/09 someone not in me withdrew $35 reward certificates. The location and order number/customer service points have been X'd out. I called customer service, but I was put on hold for a long time with my issue not being resolved. I don't get it, I checked a day before today which is the 12th and I still retained my points. I wake up and check up on it today and its all gone? Also, I never got a email notification for issued certificates.

This is frustrating. Especially when you see the points you accumulated all gone.

Re: Points Gone

Hello Alanc!

Welcome to the forums and thanks for posting! Are you a Premier Silver Reward Zone member by chance? If so you can select Point Banking so your certificates do not auto issue. If you are a Reward Zone Base Teir member, Your points auto issue when have either $5, $10 or $20 in certificates. You can choose to pick either the 5,10, or 20 amount and I imagine in this case you were issued a $30 certificate and a $5 certificate automatically. If you log onto www.myrz.com And click on "View My Points & Purchases" you can see the last 90 days of activity. If you have any questions I would recommend calling 1-888-BESTBUY. If you call, it can sometimes take up to 20 minutes to speak to an agent due to call volume. If you do not have time to be on the phone, I would wait for a Community Connector and they will be able to assist you!

Have a great day!

Re: Points Gone

Hi alanc945,

Thank you for participating in our Reward Zone program and I am very sorry to hear you believe you may be missing some of your hard-earned points in your account!

I would be happy to look into this for you to see what can be done to help, but will need you to first send me a private message with your Reward Zone membership number.  You can send a private message to me by clicking on the “private message” envelope in the upper right-hand corner of the page and then composing a new message to my username “SARAH-BBY”.  Once I receive this information I will follow up with you again, also by private message, as quickly as possible!

Thank you for your patience and hang in there!!  :smileywink:

Re: Points Gone

Today (2/13/10 )I received an email about rewards points being forfeited in early February if not used. When I checked my account (which did have 134 points) my points were already gone! Why would BestBuy forfeit anyone's points? American Express long ago had a policy where points expired, but learned from numerous customer complaints that this makes NO SENSE! Unfortunately, today BestBuy lost me as a customer.

Re: Points Gone

As has been stated in communication BB sent out to customers, unless you are a RZPS or RZMC member, the RZ program is now annual, meaning you will get RZ certificates for the value of whatever is in the account. Anything less than 250 will expire.

Re: Points Gone

Nokia ~

You're right - perhaps a notification was sent out by BestBut, as they claim in today's email but that was in JUNE of 2009.  Couldn't they have sent out another last month to give us a chance to follow up?

Those who remember the June '09 email, saved it, or didn't forget to open it in the first place are to be commended for their remarkable follow up.

The rest of us still want to know WHY the points are forfeited at all - what purpose does it serve BB or their customers?

Caveat emptor, I suppose...

Re: Points Gone

This policy is ridicoulos and I have sent out an email to BB to cancel my RZ membership. I will no longer be a patron at this company. Here is a copy of the email I sent.

Good day,

I would like to have my Reward Zone membership cancelled ASAP. I will no longer do any sort of business with a company who is changing policies constantly with regard to the membership. This has to do with the 198 points which were taken away from my account due to the new yearly points rule. It is not only for this reason that I will no longer do any Business with you but many other factors as well. Since Circu1t City has gone under your company has gotten worse and worse. Companies such as Microcenter, Target, and Radioshack will be getting my business from this point on.

Reward Zone Membership #: *******

Thank you!

*Wow you are not allowed to say Circu1t City. Good redince BB

Re: Points Gone

That's unfair to force people to make a purchase just to keep thier points if not they have to forfeit all the hard earn points.
