Missing Reward Points

I received 10% back in rewards coupon from BestBuy on August 1 2017. The coupon expires on August 31 2017.


I went to BestBuy Montebello CA on August 28 2017 and purchased an 12.9 inch iPad pro.

Customer service PIN is {removed per forum guidelines} and receipt total is $857.14


On that day at best buy, I asked the best buy associate I want to buy Apple - 12.9-Inch iPad Pro (Latest Model) with Wi-Fi - 256GB - Space Gray and he gave me an iPad with SKU: 4904700. When I confirm whether it is the latest model, he said it is latest. During the checkout I google to double check and found out the latest model is SKU: 9078031. The associate apologized and exchanged it with the right model. Everybody can make mistake and I don't want to make big deal on this.


During check out I present my 10% back in rewards coupon to the above mentioned BestBuy associate, but he said he doesn't need to scan, rewards is already in computer system and said my account will automatically get 10% back in rewards. I confirmed him again and he insisted he doesn't need to scan the coupon.


This morning I checked my best buy account and found out that only 5% rewards was awarded. I am VERY VERY disappointed.


One mistake may be ok, but repeated ones are frustrating.

In my humble opinion, this BestBuy associate need more training.

Welcome to the forum and thank you for reaching out to us regarding the 10% back in rewards coupon you received! While this offer is generally only made to new My Best Buy credit card holders, we will occasionally send out a coupon offer to select customers.


Such coupons must be scanned at the time of purchase, and I'm truly sorry if you were advised otherwise by the associate at our Montebello, CA store. After almost purchasing the wrong iPad, I can definitely understand why this would have left you so frustrated. Without the coupon being scanned though, unfortunately we would be unable to award you the additional points from the offer. I apologize for any additional frustration that this news may cause you.
