Missing 10$ Rewards For First Purchase

Ok, so I'm really starting to think this is a scam Best Buy uses to get us to sign up for their credit card. I applied for a Best Buy card to purchase a Samsung TV using the 10% back promotion when making your first purchase with the card. I placed the order to pick up the TV at a local Best Buy store the same day. 

 

Now I have no record or any kind of indication that I will be receiving the 10% reward for that purchase as promised and advertised by Best Buy (and pushed by every single one of their employees when making a purchase of any kind). 

 

So, I decided to send a message to Best Buy using the "Manage Account" section after logging in to my Best Buy Credit Card page. This is the worthless response I got: 

 

"We received your recent inquiry regarding the account.

We appreciate your utilization of the Account Online messaging system to

bring your concerns to our attention. However, as the credit

institution, we are unable to answer questions that are related to

online orders, merchandise, installation or store issues.

For this reason, we ask that you contact your local store or Customer

Care at 888-237-8289 (TDD/TTY: Use Relay Service).

Please let us know if we can be of further assistance."

 

So, the credit institution who promises the 10% rewards cannot comment on the promotion promised? I do not want to call anybody about this issue, it is already wasting enough of my time as it is when really I should be able to see the rewards for this purchase. With most credit cards who offer rewards, the rewards show up as pending rewards or they show up as rewards after the bill is paid. To have them tell me they do not know anything about the rewards is discouraging to say the least. 

 

I have been shopping at Best Buy my whole life now, but if this turns out to be a scam, I will be done with them.

Greetings philosofly, and welcome to the Best Buy forum,

 

A scam???  That is definitely one of those words that makes you sit up in your chair a little taller.  After a very quick review of your account, I can confirm that you have already been awarded a full 10% back.  The promotion in-question has been ongoing for a couple years.  A member can receive 10% back in points when using a newly approved My Best Buy™ credit card and standard financing.  Only the very first purchase made is eligible and it would need to be processed within 14 days of approval.  As long as the terms are met, 10% back in points should post within a matter of 20 days (35 days for Magnolia and Pacific Sales).

 

The reason why you are having a hard time seeing those points is because you are probably looking in the wrong place.  While your My Best Buy™ credit card is managed by Citibank, the fulfillment side of the promotional offer is handled by Best Buy.  The "Manage Account" section of the website is really just for paying your monthly bill.  You are going to want to login to BestBuy.com, click on "Account Home" under your name, and then Rewards History under the "Rewards" tab.  Just scroll back to April when the TV was purchased and you should see that 10% back in points were awarded.  Those points were converted into two certificates, which you appear to have already redeemed.

 

With that all having been said, it would appear your account is up-to-date with all points having been awarded.  I did notice that you currently have more than one active My Best Buy™ account and would suggest that we look into merging them.  Any points or certificates in the secondary account would transfer over to the primary account following the merge.  If you would like to see about having those accounts merged, then please send me a private message with the information listed below and I will see what I can do to further assist.  A private message can be sent by logging into the forum and clicking on the blue button in my signature.

Thank you for your fast reply, I definitely was looking int he wrong place and had no idea those rewards issued were from this specific purchase. Thank you for clarifying and obviously there is no scam at all. I was just expecting a typical "cash back" reward with the credit card rather than the Best Buy rewards I recieved (which is just a simple misunderstanding on my part). I am happy I received the rewards I was promised and obviously they went to good use on a PS4 Pro Smiley Happy
