Either Buy from us or loose you points

Got this message again telling me that if I don't purchase something you will take my points away. I just bought guardians of the galexy 2 online on 8/22/17. I go through this every 3 months no matter when the last time I bought from you. 


Keep you your points I will go elsewhere

Welcome to the Best Buy forum!


Outside of a rewards certificate having an expiration date, there is really only one way active points will "expire" or get taken away.  If a member's My Best Buy™ account were to go inactive for a period of 12 consecutive months, then any points in their account would be converted into certificates down to the $5 level while forfeiting any remaining points.  Basically, a member would have to not use their account for an entire year.  That is the only scenario I can think of where you might be sent an email about points expiring.


After a brief review of your account, it does look as if you were about a month or so from forfeiting points due to inactivity.  The last time you utilized your account prior to the recent purchase of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 was a year ago.  That near 12 months worth of inactivity is why you received the email.  You may have received the email a couple of times seeing as you pre-ordered the movie and a pre-order is not attached to an account until it has been fulfilled.  With that being said, you may receive a similar email if your account goes inactive until this time next year.

"If your account (except Elite Plus accounts) is inactive for a period of 12 consecutive months, we will issue you reward certificate(s) in 250-point increments, and you will forfeit the right to any remaining points less than 250. If your account is inactive for 24 months, we will terminate it. You may return your account to active status at any point during the 24 month period by simply engaging in Account Activity."
