Currently, I am sitting at $1430 / $1500 to cross from Basic into Elite. I was considering a rather large purchase today (around $630-ish) and was wondering how the point distribution would work.
Since I'm technically still in Basic at the time of purchase, would I only get half of the points distributed to my account or would breaking the threshold posthumously give me the 1-1 ratio?
Basically, should I break into Elite Status before the purchase?

Hello Renteka-Bond -
When nearing a new My Best Buy tier status, this is always a great question to ask so you know when to expect to see yourself earning more points and other benefits.
Generally, you will receive the benefits for the tier you are at the time of purchase. Once a purchase is made that pushes a customer beyond the required spending for a new tier status, the tier status won't update for 15-20 days. Only purchases made after the tier status has updated would reflect the new earning rate for points, and earn the other benefits as well. So the purchase that pushes you beyond the spending requirement, and any purchases made in those couple weeks before the tier status is updated, would receive the lower tier benefits.
I hope this helps clarify what you should expect, though I'm sorry if it's not the news you wanted. For more information, please feel welcome to review our My Best Buy program terms.
