Credit Card offers questions

I was just approved for a Best Buy credit card on Sunday (June 3rd).  Reading about the 10% back in rewards offer, it says it's on first purchase with 14 days.  I got an email today (June 8th) saying my card will arrive in 5-10 days.  If it actually does take 10 days it would be June 18th, the 15th day after I was approved.

How am I supposed to take advantage of the offer in this case?  Smiley Sad  Now, hopefully it won't take that long and I'm worried for no good reason, but what if it does?

Thank you!

Re: Credit Card offers questions

Hello redsandvb,

Welcome back to the forums!

As a Best Buy cardholder myself, I'll start by saying welcome to the club. There is a lot of rewards and great benefits associated with the card, especially if you shop at Best Buy often.

That said, our 10% back in points on your first purchase offer does indeed apply within 14 days from the sign up of your card, but the great part is that the card doesn't need to be physically in your possession. Should you be looking to make a purchase simply visit a local store, provide a cashier with your information at time of checkout and they will be able to look up your card and you can take advantage of the 10% promo.

You can read more about the promotion here: 10% Back In Points

Please let me know should you have any other questions or concerns!

Best,

Re: Credit Card offers questions

Thanks for answering...

That would be great, but I'm disabled. It's very, very difficult for me to get out to a store.

BTW, I just logged in to my bestbuy.com account and under 'Account Home' I see a 'My Best Buy Visa' listed as the 'Preferred Credit Card', there's even **** followed by what looks like the last four digits of the credit card number (matches what is in the email I mentioned in my previous message). When I click on 'Manage Your Credit Cards' I see the same info along with my name, address, and phone#. There's no expiratiion date though, it's just zeros.

As I mentioned, I have not yet received my card so I have not entered that info myself.

Does this mean I can actually use my card online @ bestbuy.com already, too? ...Without having received it or activating it?

Re: Credit Card offers questions

I wanted to add that I tested by adding an item to my Cart, then went through as if to really Checkout. I got all the way through to the end where it says Place Your Order, but did not try and click that.

Re: Credit Card offers questions

Hello redsandvb,

I appreciate your prompt response and the attempt to process your order and see if you can proceed with it. I'd like to take a closer look into your request and what options we may have to get you taken care of and so you can take advantage of this great promotion. I'd appreciate if you could shoot me a private message with your member ID, email address, and phone number. The email you used to sign up on the forums has not shown an account on my end.

A PM can be sent to me by clicking on the blue banner below and using this method will help us keep all your details safe and secure.

Best,

Re: Credit Card offers questions

Thank you for your help via PM so far.

I received my BestBuy Visa today (Friday) and thought my problems were over.  I've sent this via PM but decided to post it here also, in case you have the weekend off.

I went to bestbuy.com to purchase some gift cards and saw the offer for a future $15 discount code on a purchase of a $150 egift card (it said up to three).  I added three $150 egift cards and proceeded to checkout, but the website popped up this error message: 'We're sorry, but this transaction has been declined. If you continue to have this problem please contact customer support.'

I then called the CS number on the back of my credit card, they said there's no problem with my card/account and that the trasaction is not being declined by them.  I tried the bestbuy.cashstar.com CS number, 855-820-0485, but it seems like they are closed.  I sent an email and am waiting for a response.  I then tried many more times and got the same error each time.

This offer ends on Sunday 6/17, I don't want to miss out on this offer or the 10% back in rewards on the first purchase on my new BestBuy Visa (14 days from my approval is Sun 6/17 for any new BestBuy Associates looking in on this thread).

I found at least one instance of this problem, posted on Feb. 21, 2018 http://forums.bestbuy.com/t5/BestBuy-com/Cannot-Purchase-E-Gift-Card/td-p/1124093

What do you suggest?

Thank You

Re: Credit Card offers questions

Well, I ended up ordering physical gift cards with my BestBuy Visa and the egift cards with another credit card via Paypal.  Hopefully there are no problems with either bonus offers.

Re: Credit Card offers questions

Well, now there's a fraud alert on my BestBuy Visa and the CS agent I spoke with told me they are having some kind of problem verifying my identity with the information I gave them. What the heck?

Re: Credit Card offers questions

I should mention that was a credit card CS agent I spoke with, not a Best Buy CS agent..
