August bonus day awarded negative points value?

I made a purchase tonight and used the 11% Points August bonus promotion, obviously expecting to see extra points rewarded. Instead, when I look in my account under the purchase, it shows a negative points value assigned next to "August Bonus Day." This makes no sense.

Also, to be clear, this has nothing to do with my points as a whole. This is simply about the bizarre negative points assigned for the August Bonus Day promotion.

Why would I have points deducted for a promotion? I was NOT, nor have I ever been, upside down in points, so that is not the reason.

Thank you in advance for helping me with this issue.

I decided to call the Rewards program number on the back of my bb credit card.  They immediately saw the issue and corrected it.  I appreciate their quick, helpful service.  If anyone else sees something out of sorts with their points, calling the Rewards customer support line at 888-237-8289 could prove quite helpful.  This program has saved me a lot of money, and I appreciate the fast resolution for the very occasional issue.

Just had this same issue happen today and the bonus points are showing as negative. Called the # as recommended as the previous user and was informed they'll eventually post correctly, so we'll see in a few weeks.

Isthrasher04, I was able to see the correction in a matter of minutes.  The representative did tell me it could take a day or two.  So, hopefully you will see the correction quickly.

 

My correction did not come in the form of the incorrect transaction being altered.  Instead, a proper number of points were issued to me via another transaction, to counteract the negative points and add the positive.

Reward Points showing as -1

I made a large purchase of some appliances for my new home and was looking forward to the amount of reward points to go along with it.  They finally posted to my account but for some reason the total amount of points earned is showing -1.  Here is the transcript from the entry -

Why would the points be canceled out in the same transaction?  I called the Elite Plus line this morning but the best they could do was open a case which will be resolved within 5-7 days.  Was hoping for a better answer than that.  Any anyone explain what is going on here?  Its a swing of nearly 10k worth of points.

Welcome to the Best Buy forum!

 

I can imagine having questions about your account if you were expecting a large sum of points to post only to find that a point was deducted instead.  We did present a random selection of members in August with the option to earn 10% back in points (11% for Elite Plus) on a single purchase when using their My Best Buy™ credit card with standard financing.  As far as I can tell, the purchase in-question that was processed on 8/28 should qualify for 10% back in points.  Please keep in mind that it can generally take up to a full 20 days for points from an eligible purchase to officially post.  That time frame would start after any scheduled deliveries or installation services have been completed.

 

Our program team has recognized an error with the August Bonus Day that is causing zero or negative points to be displayed for a small selection of those members who were eligible for the offer.  They are currently working on a fix, which should hopefully be in place later this week.  In the end, we will make sure that you are awarded each and every point that you qualified for.  If for some reason a full 10% back in points is not reflected in your account by the start of next week, then please do not hesitate to send me a private message and I will see what I can do to further assist.  A private message can be sent by first logging into the forum and then clicking on the blue button in my signature.

The bonus points did indeed post negatively, so I called CS. The representative issued a case # and said it could take 3-5 days to see a point adjustment. Very frustrating...

Our My Best Buy™ team has recognized an error with the August Bonus Day offer that is causing the points to appear as zero or negative for a small selection of members that were eligible.  A fix is currently in the works and should hopefully be in place later this week.  In the end, you will get the full amount of points that you qualified for.  I would ask that you please send a private message, by clicking on the blue button in our signature, if those points have not posted by the start of next week and we will see what can be done.  We do sincerely appreciate your patience.
