I really have to say....I'm totally unimpressed with the Reward Zone program so far.
Back in October of last year, I bought a washer and dryer from Best Buy and got the usual sales pitch for the RZ program, so I signed up. Or rather, I tried to. After no less than six attempts to register my card online, I never got the verification e-mail. I spoke with a customer service representative who supposedly fixed the problem, and I was able to log in successfully ONCE while I was still on the phone with said rep - but my point balance still didn't relect the points I should have gotten from my two big-ticket items (I think spending two grand for a washer-dryer combo would yield a bit more than 14 points, don't you?).
In January, I picked up a game from a local BB and got the sales pitch for RZ again. Since I still couldn't login to the site with my previous card and never got any kind of follow-up e-mail from customer service, I justifiably assumed that my first account simply wasn't working (I was never able to login to it again after that one successful time on the phone with CS). I decided to try opening a new account with a different card. Same issues as before: activation code never worked, never got a verification e-mail....another phone call to customer service. This time, the rep said he could merge my old and new accounts, not a problem, should see the point balance from both accounts in about a week or two, also told me that I should get an e-mail verifying that the accounts had been merged. Two weeks later, and I still haven't gotten it yet (case number 69542282). Plus, the phone experience with that customer service rep was anything but reassuring. He acted very unsure of himself, admitted that he'd made several mistakes as he tried to fix both my accounts, and overall left me feeling that things were even more messed-up than ever before after I got off the phone with him (if that's even possible). He told me to try changing my user name and password to login to the site and check my point totals, so I did - and it worked, but my point total STILL didn't reflect my purchase from last October (and I've got a nasty feeling that it's now conveniently lost in the system).
So, I guess what I'm asking is....is this whole thing really nothing more than a bait & switch? I'd be a lot angrier if it wasn't for the fact that I haven't actually paid for the RZ membership, yet; the only thing that's been wasted so far is my time and patience. I'm still going to be in the market for a new TV and an updated computer system within the next year or so, and if this is how BB is potentially going to "reward" me for being a customer, I'll gladly take my money to Sam's or Target.
