Hello all,
I have tried to install PC app on my computer and when it is finished it does not put a shortcut icon on my desktop and it does not open. I have tried talking to the geek squad but there was really no solution there. So far, I have installed, uninstalled and reinstalled this app about six times now...still nothing is working.
I am pretty disapointed as a friend just gifted me the pre purchase of GW2 and now it looks like I wont be getting into the beta this weekend, much less even start the download for it.
Does anyone have any ideas on what is going on or how to fix it? Thanks for any input!

Hi Blightsong,
I hope you were able to figure out your PC App issue now or at least find another thread explaining this fix so you get up and running in time for the beta weekend. However, if not, this is method should "reset" your PC App install...
If you are running on Windows 7 or Vista, try deleting the PC App data folder, which is located here:
C:\Users\[Their Username]\AppData\Local\Apps
Once there, delete the 2.0 folder, then try a reinstall from here:
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/null/null/pcmcat248100
This will not uninstall whatever has been installed, but it will prompt a repair action when you attempt to re-install from BestBuy.com. The folder “AppData” is hidden, so I suggest typing in the remainder of the file path once you get past your username in that URL.

Thank you for responding, but at this point I havent even gotten my registration key for a game I got almost three days ago now. So, this pc app business is a moot point until I actually get my key. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Just for kicks I tried what you suggested and windows couldnt find the file. I did manually type in the address and it was not found.
For some reason customer service is having a hard time even finding the game that was gifted to me. I have not done a digital purchas from Best Buy before so Im not 100% sure on what the process is.
Is it order it, get confirmation of order, get email saying it was ready for download, download pc app, run it and that is where you find the game registration key.
Or is it, order it, get confirmation of order, get game registration number and notice that it is ready for download?
I guess the ultimate question is where in the process should I have gotten the registration key for the game? I got the email notice on the 26th that my game was ready for download, but since pc app is not working all I want is the registration key so I can register it with Arenanet and just download it from them.
To be honest, if you guys would have just sent out the game keys you probably wouldnt have the extremely angry customers you have now. ![]()

I'm sorry to hear that it ultimately came to that. I will close out your case as you requested.
For future reference and others that might be inquiring, your registration code for digital software purchases should be listed in PC App in the "My Downloads" section once you login.
