I purchased guild wars 2 standard edition(digital download) but the download itself has yet to start with the only outcomes being "a constant 0%" or status:download error". Though this may be because of the prepurchase status I want to verify when and how to go about downloading the client as I want to be prepared for the next beta event. I have already reinstalled the pc app 6 times and gone through waves of attempted fixes please help.

i get the same thing. i guess its kind of like... the beta isnt ready to be downloaded. either bestbuy doesnt have it downloadable yet or guild wars 2 doesnt want people downloading the game before the beta event actually starts.

From all the information I have found, it doesn't look like we'll even be getting the client this way.  The email you get when you register your key on register.guildwars2.com (make sure you do this, or you won't get entry into beta events, nor will you get your prepurchase benefits!) specifically states that a later email will contain a link to download the client, so patience is the key here.
