i was wondering if yall knew anything about being part of arena.net's pre-purchase program with guild wars 2.

there is the link showing that yall are indeed apart of  the program. many of us at https://www.guildwars2guru.com/ have ran into problems with gamestop not knowing anything about the program even though they are also listed as one of the retailers. So if you have any knowledge about the pre-purchase program any information would be great.

Yep, I saw that BBY was named as a pre-purchase retailer as well.  I remember reading something about retailers not being able to complete transactions for the pre-purchase before 4/10, so I just assumed the site would update to include a pre-purchase option on 4/10 when pre-purchase starts.

Then again this seems like the kind information Best Buy should be making very obvious instead of forcing us to ask.  The path of least resistance will likely funnel people elsewhere.

The downside is that the other US Retailers aren't able to say anything either. Gamestop is well... gamestop. No one knows anything. I've called Best Buy's customer support and was transferred to a gaming expert who knew nothing of this. I was then sent to a PC Applications Specialist who could neither confirm nor deny this information. I was refused a transfer by the rep to a manager though, so it may be something only the higher-ups know about. Between GameStop and Best Buy Nationwide, I bet we'll be able to grab our Deluxe Collector's Editions. Heck, while we're at it, let's guild up when the game drops.

I've called numerous Best Buy stores and they have no idea what the Guild Wars 2 Pre-Purchase is.  According to the Guild Wars 2 official webstie Best Buy is an authorized seller of the pre purchase and you are suppose to get a physical Pre-Purchase box that contains a code inside to register your pre order, but if Best Buy has no clue about this how are we suppose to buy this game?  From their website :

How does physical Pre-Purchase work?

Physical Pre-Purchase for Guild Wars 2 is only available at select retailers. The details of how this will work will differ slightly depending on which edition customers purchase and where they purchase it.

• Standard Edition (North America)—Customers will buy the Standard Edition Pre-Purchase box and receive a Pre-Purchase serial code. They will then go to https://register.guildwars2.com and follow the on-screen instructions to create a Guild Wars 2 account and apply the serial code, which will give them access to Beta Weekend Events, the Hero's Band digital item, and three-day Headstart Access to the final game. When Guild Wars 2 launches, customers will need to return to the retailer with proof of purchase to receive the full Standard Edition box and retail serial code. They will need to apply this retail serial code to their Guild Wars 2 account within five days to continue playing without interruption.

My official answer from stores in my area has been "we're still recieving truck, and so is [the other BBY location in town], call back after noon to see if we have it or not."

I realize that I probably wasn't talking to a manager, but couldn't this individual have looked at an invoice or packing list and given me some semblance of confidence that it's actually worth calling back?  And assuming the prepurchase box does reach your shelves eventually, how can your associates sell products of which they have no knowledge?

Best Buy is listed as an official retailer.  Prepurchase was announced for today.  Stores opened at 10am.  Why was this product not on your shelves?  Why isn't pre-purchase or even any prepurchase details available online?  And furthermore, why don't any of your employees know about it?

Best Buy, you are making me jump through hoops to give you money!  What kind of customer service is that?

I went to the store in my area. They had no knowledge of the GW2 CE pre-purchase program, and told me flat out that BB did not do pre-purchase, just pre-order.

I called BB Phone CS, and after the gent tried to do some research (to his credit, Caesar really did seem to try - kudos to him), all he could find out was the same thing - no one in their phone CS that he talked to had ever heard of GW2, or the new pre-purchase process. All they were familliar with was pre-ordering. He suggested that I try again in a few days.  I thanked him sincerely.

I've emailed GW2, and tweeted to GW2, NCSoft, and Best Buy.  Unfortunately I have limited net access at the moment, so can't really do more.  If anyone gets more detail, I would love to know more!

Essentially, seems like a typical launch lack of communication whenever a company tries to do a new spin on pre-release or pre-order (I'm looking at you NCSoft!).

Hello all,

The reason we don't have any definitive information posted yet regarding Guild Wars 2 is because the contract is still in the works with the publisher.  I realize we are listed as a retailer on the Guild Wars 2 website but we're still figuring out the details of what that looks like behind the scenes.

I appreciate you hanging in there in the meantime and keep an eye on our Guild Wars 2 page on BestBuy.com for updates.

I grabbed mine at gamestop and got codes shortly thereafter. No use dithering. Too many keys are being grabbed up while you "figure it out. " Sorry guys. Too little progress on the subject, in my opinion.
