Diablo III Collector's edition is no longer available for pre purchase at my store.  I had pre-ordered it about 4 months ago thinking that I would be fine.  I went into my store today to finish paying it off and was told that they couldn't guarantee my copy of the CE.  Is this happening at all stores or is the manager at the Orem, UT store just a moron?  Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Hi Drewbey,

It sounds like you might have been provided with some inaccurate information at some point.  I'm sorry about that.  Although I don't doubt that store is sold of the Collector's Edition, if you have already pre-ordered it, that pre-order secures you a copy on release day.  

I was able to locate your pre-order using your email address on these forums and verified that you do have it pre-ordered properly.  You'll just want to bring your order information in (since it was a BestBuy.com pre-order) on 5/15/12 and present it to the employee to pick up your copy of the Collector's Edition.

Also, we actually do not collect full payment for the game until it is in your hands (unless you selected shipping, in which case your card is charged when the order ships) so there is no need to do any other transactions before release date.

I hope that helps clear some things up.

My best buy is still taking preorders for the collectors edition so I preordered it since they are doing a midnight release. I currently have it preordered at amazon from last year and want to cancel it but I am worried they might not get enough at best buy since most places are sold out. Is it safe to cancel my amazon order?

If you have it pre-ordered you're good to go.  The number of copies we order and send to each store location is based upon the pre-orders placed at each location so you'll have a copy waiting for you on 5/15/12.
