Thankfully you aren't the spokesperson for Best Buy, because you are doing them no favors, haha. I understand retail mentality as I worked in a smaller electronics setting, but I'm going to hope that Best Buy wouldn't straight up try and tell me they'd rather I go somewhere else to blow a hundred bucks. Little ol' me might not matter in the grand scheme of things, but looking at this list of stores that are doing a midnight is laughable for a MAJOR pc release that has been predicted to sell 5 million copies in the first year. Whether they all like to operate singularly or not, they all use the same sign, and if an Indiana store won't do it, they won't be the only ones not getting my business afterwards. : / *idle threats, blah blah blah*

I'm certainly not a Best Buy spokesperson or current employee and do not speak on their behalf, though I have worked for the company in the past for many years and have been a part of TONS of midnight launches (including two WoW expansions), so I know how they work.
Like you, I'm extremely excited about the game and have been for years, but my store isn't doing a midnight launch. Like I said, at first I was very bent out of shape about this, but if you REALLY want the Collector's Edition, either wait out the handful of hours, or try to find it at a 24-hour store. I can understand wanting instant gratification, but Best Buy isn't going to bend over backwards to get you a Collector's Edition 10 hours before you'd normally get it. It's kind of ridiculous, really.

I'm not asking for preferential treatment, lol. You keep hinting that I need my CE when I want it, but even if it was the normal version I would hope they would release a major game at midnight (ie, MW3). I will be going to 24hr stores like you mentioned. Hope I find one so I don't have to buy it from BB. : /

Laserbeast wrote:Yes, the list is complete. Best Buy Corporate does not control which stores stay open for a midnight launch. The decision is purely left to the General Manager of the specific store and no one else.
The list is not complete and not correct. Folks have been calling many of the stores on the list and have been told they are definitely not having a midnight release.
I called the ones near me and they are not doing it.

Hello,
As I stated before in my previous post, the midnight release list on Bestbuy.com just went up on Sunday. It may be that this information has not yet been communicated to the stores. It has been posted within Best Buy internal news and all stores that are participating may not have been notified yet by their in store management.
If you have a placed a preorder at a store that is not doing a midnight release, unfortunately you cannot transfer your preorder if the store with the midnight release does not have any more units available. I truly apologize for any inconvenience this may cause you.
I appreciate everyone's comments and thank you again.

I fear best buy may lose my money in this situation. If my store doesnt have a midnight release i will have to go to the wal-mart down the road and buy it there at midnight, then cancle my pre-order with Best Buy. There are 3 Best Buy's 6 Gamestops, and 4 wal-marts near me. none of the Best Buy's are doing midnight releases, 4 of the gamestops are, and of course all the wal-marts are 24hrs. For a game like this, best buy might lose out on quite a few preorders.

I called my local store that was listed and they confirmed that it was listed here on the web site, however, the store manager said they are definitely NOT doing it and they are trying to get it changed on the website. So again, I have to say the information posted here is wrong and can't be depended on....

For those still holding out hope of a midnight release at a store not listed on the website, I called my local BB which isnt supposed to be doing a midnight release and they are going to be open. So I suggest you call your store reguardless of what the website says.

At least you guys GET a list. Washington, DC isn't even on the list, because apparently we don't exist and don't play Diablo.
