Price Matching Issue

Good afternoon everyone,

I am an extremely loyal customer to Best Buy. I buy anything I can from the store so I can earn the rewards. I also don’t entirely like the idea of going to 100% online shopping. Customer service is always great, but I recently had two issues in appliances. The first one was about 4 months ago, and the past experience was from this weekend. I won't write about the first one, because it has been solved by the Samsung team. The second one was a little bizarre and I’m sure the Best Buy team would rather hear about this one. I was in search of a new washer and dryer unit so I went to Best Buy. I found a few I liked, and then I went to Home Depot to see if they had any sales. At Home Depot, I found a great deal on a Samsung Washer and Dryer. I took a photo of the prices and the machines, and brought the information over to Best Buy, so I can use my Elite Plus Card and earn the 6%. Instead of price matching, the employee didn’t believe me. He said if those are the prices at Home Depot, I should go buy them right away because it’s a good deal. I was a little shocked, and I went back to Home Depot and I purchased the new washer and dryer. The pair was around $1400 total and I have a receipt of the transaction. They are new devices and they arrive at my place Saturday, with installation and everything. Did the price matching policy change? Is the Best Buy team ok with losing sales this easily? Has anyone else had similar issues?

Pricing matching is a great way to get the best price around; especially on a larger purchase like a laundry suite.  I’m sorry to hear that your price match request wasn’t properly reviewed, or declined with a specific reason articulated. I appreciate the time you’ve taken to share with us.

 

Normally a price match request would need to be to the advertised price our competitor would have listed on their website, or in their ad. As you can understand we’d need to verify the prices with the competitor. I’m sorry that the agent you had presented the picture to of Home Depot’s pricing didn’t give Home Depot a call to verify it. Additionally, please note we’re unable to price match discounts that are associated with stipulations such as delivery, coupons, rebates, credit card offers, etc. You’re more than welcome to review our Price Match Guarantee here.

Thank you for forwarding me those photos of the prices you saw at your local Home Depot. While reviewing them in further detail your price match may have been denied since the washer and dryer are both advertised “While supplies last” on their website. Our Price Match Guarantee will not allow us to price match items that are limited in quantity. I’m sorry the agent you spoke to in the store didn’t take the time to review your request fully, or share why he was denying it.

It didn’t say while supplies last in the store. I’m perfectly fine taking my money elsewhere, just know that I will never buy another appliance from Best Buy again.
