I have been profiled at BestBuy

Hello All,


I have to bring up an incident to your notice. 


Today I was at BestBuy GeekSquad to get to know what should I do for a laptop of mine whose screen is not coming up. I was told that, they will take the laptop in and it will take 2 to 3 weeks to get the machine back, and I could potentially loose the work. 


Anybody who pay 60% of cost the laptop upfront when buying a laptop after listning to a sales guy that the laptop can be replaced with another one for any problem you encounter do expect little more than that. I totally respect the GeekSquad limitations, but as a customer I will also some expectations. Not having a computer for 3 weeks and loosing all the emotions, which are stored in the computers harddisk, will definetly hit any normal human being. 


Then I started to explain, what could have been a better deal from GeekSquad, without any expectations, but this gentleman by name Yasir ( he denied giving his last name, saying that he is the only Yasir in the whole company) did not like my explanation, told me you can either go to corporate or any other store but for now get out of my store.


My wife who was next to me could not take it and staretd weeping, because of the treatment we got.


He called me security and a gentleman who is an assitant manager came by and listened to me and said, you are totally right and let me talk to that guy and we setteled amicably.


I am pretty sure Yasir would NOT have spoken like the way he did with me, had it been anybody other than brown skin like me. He definetly profiled me. I am not sure BestBuy will encourage such profiling. He seemed to pretty confident that BestBuy will stand on his side and said, do whatever you can. If bestBuy proves it to be correct, I will really be surprised.


If anyone from BestBuy wants to contact me, they can do that anytime on {removed per forum guidelines}. I can even be at the store for the same. I have tremondous respect on the store and I hope to it continued.

The BestBuy store I was profiled is Allen, TX.

Nowadays it seems that everyone thinks they are profiled if they are disrespected. While I am sorry you were mistreated, and I certainly hope Yasir is reprimanded, my guess is he was having a bad day and took out his frustrations on you. If it had been anyone else, they probably would have been treated the same.
Personally, if that picture is what you look like right now, I believe it was your mustache/beard and has nothing to do with skin color. But that's just me, I'm jealous of people who can totally rock the beard/Mustache combo you got going on. Maybe Yasir was jealous of you for being able to afford a laptop, who knows.

Before posting I try to research everything first or use my own experiences. I do not now nor have I ever worked for Best Buy. After a year and a half hiatus, I'm back working for the competition.
If you respond to a post of mine, I will read it. I may or may not post in the thread again, but rest assured I will read your response Smiley Happy

I totally respect what your opinon is, may be he had a bad day, that too very early, like 11 in the morning. I neither have a moustache nor a beard.

I personally worked in-store with Geek Squad for many years, so I certainly understand your frustration with the experience you’ve described. Our intention is to provide services that make your life easier, while making sure your tech is running to its full potential. I am discouraged to hear that your screen may have been experiencing trouble and that the store did not provide a solution that was acceptable to you. 


I can agree that Best Buy does not tolerate the behavior you’ve described and because of this I will be making sure to document your experience here at our Corporate Office. In addition, I will be reaching out to the Allen, TX store’s General Manager to request that they follow up with you at the phone number you’ve provided. I believe that it is important they hear your feedback and have the opportunity to do something about it.
