Forgot to back up information on returned laptop

I forgot to back up my school notes on OneDrive and broke my surface returned it and was wondering if there was a way I could get my notes. For onenote 2016 I used my old colleges email and don't have access to that email anymore.

Re: Forgot to back up information on returned laptop

Once a return has been made it is immediately sent to Geek Squad to delete it back to manufacturers specifications, or sent back to the manufacturer, whatever the computer decides.  I would say that the information has already been erased, but we can both hope that the store is very busy and maybe hasn't gotten around to this if it stayed in store to be sold as an open item.  If it cannot be retrieved please accept our apologies, and I hope you aren't missing anything that cannot be replaced some way some how.

Thank you for joining the community, and please do not hesitate to contact the store immediately to find out if your computer is still there.  Best of luck!

Re: Forgot to back up information on returned laptop

I don't use OneDrive, but isn't this a cloud service?  Would Enaumel's notes be stored on the cloud for access when he gets his device back?

Then again, I'm not sure how OneNote works.  If that email is used as the cloud sign-in.... then he will be in trouble.

Re: Forgot to back up information on returned laptop

Hello Enaumel,

Over the years computer crashes, updates, and replacements have cost me enormous amounts of personal data and I was crushed with every loss. I was discouraged to read of your circumstances and I regret any inconvenience to you.

If you haven't already, I recommend contacting the store where you made your return as soon as possible to see if any assistance can be rendered to retrieve your data. Please be advised that there may be a fee for data backup service if the files can be retrieved.

I hope this helps. Thank you for writing to us.

Sincerely,
