Billing Issue

[ Edited ]

Dear Geeksquad Manager,

I want to report to you a situation with respect to billing. For the past few years I have been billed a renewal fee for a computer that I no longer have and haven’t used in years as it was a 2013 machine. My wife came across this charge on the amex bill back in January and I finally had an opportunity to call in to inquiry. I looked up what I got charged last year as I didn’t see a renewal notification either.

$106.34

GEEKSQUAD RENEWAL  (removed per forum guidelines)       MN

$74.45

I called and spoke with an agent who informed me that she was not able to confirm the actually machine and would have to transfer to tech support. To avoid being transferred around, I asked what email she had on file and she informed me of "redacted email".  This makes perfect sense now as to why I didn’t receive these notifications as my job was consolidated back in 11/2016 and therefore the email account would have been deactivated. I’m surprised that a techy company wouldn’t act on calling a home number when they discovered the email didn’t go through.

I asked the agent to provide me with information with respect to sending in a complaint. She gave the following PO Box. I also asked for an email

She indicated that the best she can do as an agent is refund me $62.04. I informed her that was not acceptable and that I wanted to be refunded for the past two charges since I wasn’t aware of the renewal. To expedite at least a partial credit now, I informed her to go ahead and process the $62.04 and that I would send a letter for the remaining about.

Attn: Corporate Customer Care

POBox 9312 Minneapolis Minnesota 55440

She indicated I could post to www.forums.bestbuy.com although I am reluctant to provide any sensitive information.

I’d like for Geeksquad to show me evidence that you did reach out to me when you saw the initial renewal email error and I will gladly walk away. Otherwise I’m asking for full payment for the past two years. If Geeksquad doesn’t reach back out to me, I will submit a claim to the better business bureau and inform them of poor billing practices and scam GeekSquad is running.

Here is my Confirmation # with respect to my case: (removed per forum guidelines)

Thank You

Re: Billing Issue

Good afternoon Robertdmercer-

Being billed for a service that is unwanted would certainly be frustrating to find out.  Thankfully you were able to catch this renewal and speak with a representative who was able to assist.  Knowing that this wasn’t the amount you were hoping to settle with, we do appreciate the time you’ve spent letting us know about this!

I personally was unable to locate any cases, using the email that was provided upon registering, but I would like to take a closer look into this for you!  Please click the blue button in my signature line below to send your private message containing your full name, phone number, email address so I can get started!

I’m looking forward to your message and working with you soon!

Kindly,
