Best Buy Price Stickers destroy Blu Ray Slipcovers

I buy an enormous amount of movies.  I know from reading various message boards that many collect movies.  I am ready to stop purchasing movies from Best Buy.  There appears to be two types of price/item stickers that are affixed to Blu Ray (and Ultra HD Blu Ray) movies.  One is easy to peel off and the second type it nearly impossible to peel without damaging the slipcover.  I honestly feel that those that still collect movies in this age of streaming, are the same folks that care about presentation.  I shouldn't need to toss a damaged slipcover.  I am sure Best Buy can come up with a solution for tagging the movies without destroying the packaging.  Until that happens, I am going to make my movie purchases elsewhere.

Re: Best Buy Price Stickers destroy Blu Ray Slipcovers

I agree! I loathe buying certain DVDs and BDs at Best Buy, the ones exactly as described by Storm5m. I understand the original need of these stickers was to make switching prices harder for unscrupulous customers trying to get one over on the company, but the latest stickers no longer even show a price, just the stock number. These stickers are almost impossible to remove, and no one uses them for ringing up the item as there is no UPC on them.
They ruin the slipcase. Please find some other sticker to use. Personally I would rather have a physical item rather than something "streamed" that I can't display for others to see and be jealous of (among other reasons).

Re: Best Buy Price Stickers destroy Blu Ray Slipcovers

Hey Storm5m and Walrus,

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback regarding stickers that may be used on the DVD and Blu-ray movies we sell. While I would not consider myself a collector, I make every attempt to own all Disney movies that get released in hopes of having them for a very long time. I can absolutely understand the frustration of purchasing a product for these intentions, only for it to be damaged once you get it home. I apologize for any trouble these stickers may have caused for you both.

While I cannot guarantee any changes in the processes we use, I can ensure that your feedback is properly documented for further internal review. I truly believe that as a company, we can learn from feedback such as yours but the first step is getting it to the right people.

Again, I really appreciate the time you have spent to make us aware of this issue. Please do not hesitate to let me know if there is anything else I can do for you.

Regards,

Re: Best Buy Price Stickers destroy Blu Ray Slipcovers

I have been an avid movie collector for over 10 years. I buy so many movies that I obtain Elite Reward Zone status every year. I no longer buy movies with collectible slip covers from Best Buy because of the horrible impossible to remove stickers that are white and simply say Best Buy. I go across the street to Target since they do not find the need to take the time to damage the slip covers with unnecessary stickers. You could save time and money if you would forgo the step of damaging the slips with a sticker. You wouldn't have to purchase the stickers or hire someone or use a maching to put them on. You would also have people that would choose to buy the product in your store instead of purchasing them at a store that doesnt ruin the product. I realize that there are only a few people mad enought to seek out a forum to express their opinion but I know many people in my town that refuse to buy a film with a collectible slip cover at Best Buy and I guarantee if you get rid of them you will see your sales go up. You will see how many truly have been seeking these items elsewhere.

Re: Best Buy Price Stickers destroy Blu Ray Slipcovers

Hi Iddina,
I'm sorry, but you cannot guarantee that their sales would go up just by removing this damaging sticker. While I agree I don't like the sticker, it doesn't keep *me* from buying them at Best Buy, rather the higher than most prices keep me away. While they will price match advertised prices, if not advertised then I end up buying elsewhere.
I'm much like you and buy enough movies and TV shows that if I bought them exclusively from Best Buy I'd be an Elite Plus MyBestBuy member every year (it hasn't been called "Reward Zone" in several years now, which you should know).

Re: Best Buy Price Stickers destroy Blu Ray Slipcovers

I am also a perennial Elite Plus member.  I have already started buying movie elsewhere solely due to the damage caused by the price sticker.  I couldn't say how using a different sticker would impact sales but I am certain that I am not the only one that would buy more movies at Best Buy if this wasn't an issue.
