I am so, so mad at Bestbuy now. They transitioned their credit card from capital one to citibank.
No problems right?? Well, you are wrong. I just got an email from my credit score monitoring system saying that my score dropped about 50 points. I checked the reason and it was because the bestbuy credit card was closed!!
It seems that this transition means they are closing one account and opening another one, which is harming your credit score.
I called them and they said they would fix, but I am not sure about that.
If they don't fix my credit score, I will definitily look for my rights. I am planning to buy my first house and get a mortgage soon.Of course this is a big deal for me, it might impact APR etc...
EVERYONE SHOULD CHECK THEIR CREDIT SCORE and try to fix it.

I just checked my score as we just bought a car and that is what brought me here. My score went down 14 points on Trans Union because it shows my account closed. Very Upset about it as we are trying to rebuild our credit after my wife suffered a stroke.
I wonder if this means that I don't have to pay my bill since the account is closed (Credit report shows no indication of a transition or new card) makes one wonder.

I am still waiting for someone from bestbuy to show up in this thread and try to fix our problem. If they can't fix, I am already talking to some friends to start a legal action

Maintaining a good credit score is crucial to so many aspects of our lives, from buying a new home to even applying for a job in some cases. I can understand your concern regarding your credit score going down due to the transition to Citibank.
As Walrus mentioned, our credit cards are issued through Citibank (previously by Capital One) who is a completely separate company from us. Due to this, we do not have direct access to or influence over their accounts or policies. However, I would be happy assist in any way I can, so I will be reaching out to our Citibank contact. Once I have a response from them, I will be sending you a private message. I do have to note that as much as I would like to, I cannot guarantee a favorable outcome.
Thank you for reaching out to us here on the forum, and I will be in contact as soon as possible.

It would be great if they actually answered the phone. Although I think the problem resides with Capital One not Citibank at this point.
