AppleCare Cancelled Best Buy Kept Taking Money

So, I bought 2 iPhone 7+ phones thru Best Buy on January 11, 2017, got the AppleCare plans for both. Told to go to such n such website to register bla bla bla. Didn't get around to it right away and by time I do (mid-February) I kept getting errors saying I didn't have AppleCare. So because I know it's just a fluke I don't worry about it. I can see the money's coming out of my account. Figure I'll call someday.

Well fast forward to September, I go to reconcile my bank account and see that Best Buy stopped taking the money out of my account after April (3 payments made), so I call AppleCare and am told that BestBuy cancelled our plans on February 8th, so before they even took 1 payment much less the 3 I have proof of. February, March and April.

Call BestBuy am told, your payment in May rejected so we cancelled your plans. NO YOU CANCELLED THEM IN FEBRUARY! I am told they'll put in a request to reinstate the plans.

I get an email today telling me "nope, not our responsibility to inform you that the payment didn't go thru you're supposed to keep it updated and we're not reinstating you."

Still ignoring that they actually cancelled me in February while I hadn't even been billed for my 1st complete month yet.

DO NOT BUY THE APPLECARE THROUGH BEST BUY! They'll collect your money without having a plan in place!

Re: AppleCare+ Plan Cancelled

You're a liar! Not only did we not get an email after our bank decided to switch from MasterCard to Visa and sent new cards, when I called AppleCare to find out why money stopped coming out and how to update my card info; AppleCare informed me BestBuy cancelled my AppleCare on the 2 iPhones I had bought less than a month after I bought them, yet Best Buy continued to take the money out of my account for the plans I truly didn't have.

I ask Best Buy how to reinstate and am told "nope" you were supposed to call and update card info immediately, it's too late now. YEA it's too late you all cancelled me months ago with AppleCare!

Re: AppleCare Cancelled Best Buy Kept Taking Money

Hi amandashields,

Welcome to the Best Buy Community forums. I apologize that you have run in to trouble with your AppleCare plans on your phones.

Using the information in your post and in your forum registration I was able to locate a record of your plans in our corporate systems. I’d like to go over the details of what I was able to uncover so far. Because we respect your privacy I’ll be sending you a private message to go over these details. You can check that message by logging in to your account with us and clicking on the orange envelope in the top right corner of the screen.

Thank you,

Re: Applecare cancellation

I know EXACTLY what you're talking about and Best Buy does NOT send notification for lapsed payment as I recently found out. Thankfully I had just noticed they stopped taking the money and called preemptive of any needed repairs, but found out that because my bank switched providers my payment didn't work. They cancelled me less than a month after I even bought the plan before they ever took the first payment and continued taking payments for 3 months until the bank switched. AppleCare has been GREAT about fixing the issue but Best Buy, not at all! Blaming me saying it was my responsibility to contact them when my card number changed, ummmmm yea maybe but first off they cancelled me even when they had their money and second everyone else will send notification to update payment info, not Best Buy. Now I'm trying to figure out how to get my money they took refunded since they did cancel me before they even took any money.

"I know EXACTLY what you're talking about and Best Buy does NOT send notification for lapsed payment as I recently found out. "

I've always gotten my notifications when I forget to update the card or the payment doesn't process for whatever reason - it goes via email so if the email you provided at the time of purchase is valid, it would go there. It does tend to go towards spam though, unfortunately.
