I think it's a great idea to listen to the community as we are consumers, and we now better what we want. You should create an official thread for the most popular items in Best Buy, or separate it by brands.
I am very interested in the HP Pavilion 3510nr, I will be traveling to the US in a few days so I would like to know when do you plan to release it, tomorrow or next Sunday?
Btw I am from Peru.
PS: The Blue Label sub-category is not viewable from the Product Discussions category, I just got here by the link on the main site.

As long as they don't result in Insignia type products (Lower quality BB house brand), then it's a great idea.
Partnering with expert manufactures is a great idea.

I agree on the quality issue a blue label computer might have! First of all, it is a great idea since going to a store may be dissapointing for laptop users who want features not available in most models or those who have to sacrifice some features to have other.
I am really interested on the compact HP model, all those features were available on some other HP models however you had to get a bigger unit or one with a slower processor, for example.
This Hp model has very good features and I hope the incorporation of all those features and the "geek squad support" will not decrease the manufacturing quality of the components.
The only thing I would still like to see on this HP model is the P8400 intel processor since windows vista is a heavy demanding running system.
But in general I hope this laptop performs as it looks!
I will be one of the first to test it for sure.

I am intrigued by the “Blue Label” concept however XP driver support is a must. Most problems we have been experiencing are “vista” induced. I have a small business with several laptop computers, only one vista, it is the newest, slowest (particularly briefcase), and the most problematic. HP will not provide drivers for the network card. I am forced to replace computers with used machines… This will only work for so long.

Hi,
I kind of like the Blue Lable HP dv3510nr
Except:
The graphic cards: correct me if i'm wrong: is it an Nvidia Geforce 9300M GS with 512MB memory ? Why do you add 512MB to a low-end graphics card while 256MB would be sufficent for the power of this card ? Plus the screen is small so it doesn't have really high resolution ---> even if user run game on this they would not use very high resolution. That makes 512MB of graphic memory go waste. I think 512MB would suite a 9600 9700 or 9800M more. You can reduce the amount of memory to 256MB and reduce the price or throw in better graphic card, may be Geforce 9500M...
And though the laptop is good, i think that except for the illuminate keyboard which is excellent, i see nothing new in it. The battery life, 2 years ago my friend bought one Dell E1405 from Dell with a 9 cell battery, and have a 6-7 hours battery life.
The ideas that bestbuy give about a blue label laptop after a survey: thin, small, light, illuminate keyboard, extended warranty.... after some customer review. I think with just that, the review was conducted really poorly. Who wouldn't want those features ? Without a review, everyone know these things.
After years of using many kind of electronics, PDA, laptop. I think those are the features that most important:
- Less Junk software installed
- SOLID BUILD quality. Feel right in your hand.
- Durable.
- Not a finger magnet
- Doesn't die after 1-2 drop.
- Runs cool and can sit on your lap without burning yours...
- Well-optimized. The parts work well with each other. Sometimes a good processor goes with slow ram or pathetic graphics... or sometimes the CPU became the slowest component...
- Long life battery, as long as good. 9 cell or more
)
- Have Wifi and bluetooth + Card Reader.
- If you pay around 1000 USD, cant expect to use the laptop to play most games, but at least you would want that it can play online games + do occasionally photoshop or simple video editting.
- Convenient Multimedia (Play/Stop/Pause/Volume) button. I think the touch button is just nice, but it's pretty inconvient compare to traditional one. And I think locating the button in front of the laptop like the old Inspiron E1405/1505/1705 is better than having them all the way in front of the screen - which is harder to reach + not as convienent. Sometimes while moping the floor i run to the laptop and push the front button to play Mp3.
- Good all-around laptop for a price around 1000.
-Some guys say they would love to have waterproof ^^ but i think that would make the laptop too expensive haha. But at least it give some idea that the customer want their laptop to be built tougher against everyday life accident, like a small spill. Once i have a spill but luckily the water didn't get inside the machine, since there was very few "hole" - or gap on the outside of my laptop.
*Conclusion: The HP is pretty nice and near perfect, just the graphic card is questionable.
*Does bestbuy have plan for a blue lable series for gamers ? If there is, i think low-budget gaming like Gateway P-7811 will be loved very much by alot of consumers.
The currently offering Gaming ASus 15.6" now, i think it's nice, but the Ram is just DDR2 which is lag in time, make it least appealing than the P-7811 was. But the think i love is a light-weight mobile gaming - which the P7811 doesn't offer.
I think a direct competitor to the HP Blue Label Model is the Dell XPS M1330 which is... in my opinion, superior to the HP in everything even from the design + you can optimize it. But If you choose 9 cell battery for this model, the price would be much more expensive than HP Blue Label...

This is one for the books - good idea as long as it doesnt result in higher prices and that you can keep partnerships with major manufacturers. With that said the BIGGEST pet peeve out there is:
Bloatware installed on Laptops and all PCs in general
If this truly listens to all of your customers out there PLEASE DO THIS:
Have a laptop that comes with nothing but the Operating System on it;
No Best Buy related stuff, no 60 day free trial version of antivirus; no system restore on the computer or disc that includes the Bloatware.
Give the Buyer an option; most people want MS Office so maybe have that as Just an option to have on it. If need be have a seperate disc with all the Bloatware and/or give people an option what they actually want on it.
I'm pretty sure there is a majority of people who would like to see just the Operating System like myself.
Thanks

I agree with you on your list of requirements.
I purchased the Toshiba Blue label Laptop and can see where there are areas for improvement.
1. The Keybord is very squishy, not a very good typing experience, it seems cheap.
2. The whole laptop flexes and seems plasticky
3. The placement of the audio and microphone ports are dead center in the front which are in the way on a tight airplane - need to be on the side.
4. The Graphics card need a little help - if you decide to play a game on this one you can forget it - the 14.1" is ok for gaming. I understand it is not a gaming computer - but this area still needs help.
I looked at the HP and it was was just to flexible. The body seemed OK but the screen was terrible, it was so flexible I would not trust it. Put it this way - it does not inspire confidence. The video card from the HP would be nice in the Toshiba.
There are redeeming qualities of course - I kept the Laptop. but future improvements are needed.
I have a Dell XPS 17"Laptop - the build quality here is superb - if they were all built this way.

computers won't come with best buy related stuff unless you have geek squad to do a vista personalization. which they'll add a icon. that icon is a LINK, so it doesn't really take up ur hard drive (a link is only 1kb) or ur system memory.
they do give the buyer an option to have MS Office. that's why it doesn't come with the full version. only demo. upon request, you can pay $39.99 for optimization and ask geeksquad to uninstall the software for you too. it is manufacture that puts these demo program on these laptop, not best buy, so geek squad offers u to remove it. don't complain it's a scam best buy is running (if i get a dollar for everytime i hear that.....)
