An empty garbage can (clean it out first! Phew!) and/or bottle from a water cooler, along with any kind of longish stick-like item, i.e., broken broom handle, large mixing spoon, etc., should suffice to get you started. Good luck making your beats!

What kind of "studio" beats? Can you give me some examples of beats you like? Artist? Tracks?

I have a Korg Kontrol 49 with drum pads and then some little Korg pad ( I don't know to model off the top of my head ) and I just use Reason 4 or Garage Band.
I would just buy a MiDi keyboard ( M-Audio Key Station is your best bet ) or I know my Best Buy has the Korg pads that I have for around 50 bucks.
Good luck ![]()

Good stuff again, kylewillis.
This thread actually inspired me to write up a blog/tutorial about how some simple drum machine programming techniques; kind of like a beginning beat making guide. Check it out!
