I wana make a few rap songs. What do I need to buy to record me and the instrumantal to make the song. I have a few but also how do I make new instrumentals?

Hey rcda609,

I would say a decent mic and recording program is all you would need to get started depending on why type of instrumentation you are looking for.  If you are looking to record live instruments then you would probably need some sort of interface allowing multiple tracks of simultaneous recording and more microphones (mainly for drums).  What types of instrumentation are looking to record?

to make new instrumentals/beats - you're gonna need some software at least, or you could w/ those drum machines and samplers, etc... check pssl.com for the hardware. they got software too. it's pricey.

there are some free music making software out there. i bought a netbook from a local rapper/producer not too long ago and he had some really cool software on it for producing rap beats and instrumentals.. but unfortunately i had to wipe the pc, so i lost that software. i remember him saying it was free and he got it off of download.com i think (or is downloads.com )
