Best Buy has, relatively recently, entered the world of musical instruments and is exploring different initiatives within it. To help further that discussion and gain insight, we will be posting some content with the hopes of beginning this dialogue.
We encourage you to post your own questions to other users and to us as well. Your comments may lead to extensions of questions, or we may ask you to expand upon comments you have posted.
Thank you, and we’re looking forward to the coming weeks’ discussions!

Not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here is my suggestion. It is not a community forum suggestion, it is an in-store suggestion.
I have been looking at instruments and in the music stores, if you can try the instruments, they are out in the open. There is no privacy for the first time players. What I suggest for Best Buy employees is that they welcome to people in the music section, if they are first time instrument players; allow them to play the instrument and don't get mad at them or embarass them if they cant play. I did not want to try the drums at this music store because everyone could here and everyone else was looking at me while they were shredding these nice solos or something. Then in Best Buy, they had a dedicated drum room where I felt like I could just play.

I think best buy and musical creation is a perfect marriage. BB would really shine if you guys focused on your unique position to provide everything needed to create a professional home studio. Im thinking guys in different color shirts that have lots of knowledge on how the computing power (and peripherals) best buy provides translates into music made, how different DAW programs interact with different computers at different settings in different circumstances, how midi controllers run on different USB hubs, Mac vs. PC etc..... If you guys provide the software, hardware, instruments, AND the knowledge to effectively use everything harmoniously I don't see why id'e ever go any where else for my gear. Good luck guys![]()

Coming from a long background in the retail world of music being and assistant manager at Guitar Center for 5years and then moving literly `100yards up the block to Sam Ash for another year and a half,I've seen alot of things go on.As for me my feeling has always been the person has walked into our room for a reason whether he will tell you or not. Maybe he has always wanted to play or used to or his kid is getting into it or what ever. The main thing to do is to make the person feel like one of us and not just another customer. They all have the preconvieved notion that everybody on the floor is a hotshot gunslinger that makes Clapton look like he should go take some lessons which is not the case at all. If they are shy about playing because of their skill level that is no reason to get mad. I just say "everybody started at ground zero,
Even Hendrix. I probably play worse than you do anyway because I'm just learning myself.(it's true).I've fronted a blues band for a long time blowin' harp and just started the guitar so let's play sour notes together. The other day a 12 or 13 yr old kid came in with his dad and was staring at the Gibsons.I started taling to them and he said someday that's my dream guitar! So I climbed the ladder got down the $2400. Standard took him and his dad to the demo room , hooked them up the JVM Full Stack and let crack it out. Isn't that what we're supposed to do?? Kmac
