What types of products would you like to see in our musical instruments department?

And if we do sell that instrument but not the brand you like, what brand would you like to see?

Will BestBuy carry Akai Products?  No music store can truly call itself such without the studio staple MPC line of products. I co- own a studio and we have 3 MPCs that are used every day.  No other drum machine or keyboard comes close when it comes to making drum patterns and sequences.  Akai alos offers various drum pad and keyboard controllers that work with many of the popular music production programs that are out there.

While we may not carry Akai products in your local store we do have access to their product line. If you're looking for a specific product or just looking for more information on MPCs you may not see in-store, trying speaking with the any of the MI assoicates for more information and about a special order.

I would also like to see the KRK line of studio monitors in our product assortment.  They are pretty much industry standard.

I disagree, I think that The Mackie MR series monitors are much better

The issue is not what you feel is better, but being able to offer more solutions for customers.  Mackies are great monitors, but you see more professional studios with KRK monitors being used.  Many times KRK and Mackie are used side by side in the same studio, but if a customer that owns a studio is looking for KRKS chances are rather than let a person convice them to take the Mackies, that customer will mosey on down to Guitar Center to get what they came out for.

Special order is cool for people that have patience, but as many of us that work in the stores know customers with patience are not an everyday staple.  As a customer of various stores myself, patience is a virtue but if I want it now, I'm going to get it now regardless of where I get it from.  Another point to make  about special order is that a customer cannot compare products or test them out if it's not in the store.  Special order is not very competitive as I see it.  I could order from the comfort of my home from 100 other places, product unseen, why go to a store at all...LOL I'm just sayin...

Ok so I must rescind my request for KRK monitors as I see that we do carry one model, The Rokit 6.  These are a good start.  I use the Rokit 5's at my preproduction station and they work great for that.  But for mixing I use the V8 series II and they are nothing short of phenomenal.  Lets get the ball rolling and add those the the in store product.

I found the sku for the MPC5000 and some other Akai products in RSS but no stores have it the bby.com doesn't list it and bbfb does not have it either.  Does this mean we will start carrying some Akai  products  in the near future?

If we really want to be a step ahead of the rest we should consider offering the Neko line of workstation keyboards.  These are the Workstation keyboards to end all workstation keyboards lol.  You can run pro-tools and other programs on the actual unit.  All in one... Just some food for thought.
