QSC, Rane?

Does best buy have any plans to carry these brands? I am in the market to buy some powered speakers (QSC k12) and a mixer (Rane TTM57 sl). Went to my local store and all they had was jbl, peavey, behringer.

Re: QSC, Rane?

Hey rokit6,

It looks we do have a relationship with QSC as a vendor but not Rane so that means we may be able to special order the speakers but not the mixer.  You could chat with our store Musical Instrument Associates about that if you're interested.

Re: QSC, Rane?

rokit - check places like pssl.com - they carry everything you are looking for as far as dj-ing goes. i have also looked in best buy for some dj gear and i find that like most mainstream stores such as Best Buy, walmart, target, etc... they're going to only carry the base type of dj stuff - in our best buys store we got the Stanton STR8-20 belt drive turntable, which i believe best buy retails it for $149.99. Then the Numark M 200 series mixer, i think it is the M2, not sure... but it is the base Numark mixer, 2 channel, no transform, no kills, nothing fancy, and they retail it for about $100.

both these products you can find online either at pssl.com for at least $50 less, or on amazon for way way less then both BB and pssl.com

Rane in best buy would be a dream - never gonna happen though. If you notice, like i said above, all those stores, walmart, target, BB, etc - kmart, they're only going to stock your base level stuff for dj-ing. they don't specialize in that stuff, like say how they specialize in laptops, home theater systems, etc... most ppl go into BB for pc's, phones, games, music, etc... how many ppl go in for dj-ing stuff? few and far between i imagine.

you're better off going to pssl.com or looking online. good luck

Re: QSC, Rane?

Rokit6 and 1Life,

As far as your average store goes, 1Life is right in saying that they carry more beginner based DJ equipment in the store. If you live near a Best Buy with a Musical Instruments Store, that assortment will expand dramatically. We carry everything from the beginner DJ turntables and digital systems to much more advanced equipment from Numark, Denon, and Pioneer. See if there is one near you! If not, any Best Buy can now special order gear from the Best Buy website, where you will find our expanded assortment.

And Kyle is right, unfortunately we do not carry Rane as of yet. We do, however, carry QSC in our Musical Instrument Stores and on our website. If you need to, talk to a Musical Instruments associate about special ordering in gear that is not currently on the website or in stores. They will definitely look into it for you.

Thanks to Kyle for helping with this!

Re: QSC, Rane?

i didn't know BB had a musical instruments section in some stores... i usually visit the one in the mall, and they only have a few tidbits of musical gear. i'll check out some other bb's and see what kind of stuff they got... but i've still got to say the following - unless BB has a huge sale, or it's black friday or something, i don't think they will ever beat pssl.com price or some other places...

but it's still nice to look.

as for base model beginning dj stuff - base stuff to me are brands like Gemini, numark, american dj, american audio, cortex. intermediate = stanton. we all know what pro is - technics, vestax, pioneer...

stanton i like, because stanton makes very good equipment at an affordable price.. i don't think of them as cheap. like i said in another post, when i started dj-ing i broke a whole lot of gemini scratchmaster turntables and gemini needles and numark turntables - they couldn't handle my turntablist abuse. my only setup for yrs have been 2 stanton str8-60 direct drive decks, and numark dm1001x mixer - which is a basic 2 channel mixer w/ transform buttons. no kills, no efx... i've had this setup for about 12 yrs and still presently use it. i've never had to replace a needle, and the ones i had were stanton 500 al 2's. never broke a deck. only thing i bought was a shure m447 needle to handle more of my scratch abuse, and i keep the 500 al 2's for backup. presently maybe 3 wks ago, i broke the right transform button off my mixer... it popped off while  i was mixing - guess i pressed it a bit too hard and fast - popped off, but i put it back on - so we're good.

only other thing i added to my setup was a stanton c 324 digital deck... and i love it!!! i want another one. it was b/t that or an ndx400 or ndx800. only downside to the 324 is that it doesn't have the feature ndx's have - where you can hook up a usb or flash drive and search/mix the music on that..

but like i said, stanton makes great equip and a good price.. and this has been my pro setup for yrs... and i have owned and tried vestax and technics mk2's, mk3's - i've been there done that - and i didn't really care for technics and vestax all too much. always found my way back to stanton. so i guess i am stanton biased - but i go with what worked for me and stanton has worked for me very well.

bb's musical instruments section

well, i just took a look online at their musical instruments section - at least as far as dj equip, mixers, live sound goes.... i'm sorry, but you guys are way overpriced.

like i said before, ex: ion dj discover, goes for $100 in BB. Amazon and other places, current price is sitting around $70-$85. Stanton Str8-20 - BB price $149.99 - for a belt drive turntable?? cmon.... anywhere else - it def be under $100..

i don't know what BB's return policy is on dj stuff, but where i shop, they take it back, even if you opened it and used it and just didn't care for it.

Re: bb's musical instruments section

Well, I can't really speak to the pricing at other retailers but we do have a 30-day return period on most items (45-days for Premier Silver Reward Zone members) and you would still be able to return most of the DJ hardware even if it was opened as long as it's still reasonable condition.
