Re: Music keyboards

Hello MAFM,

I've looked into your request a bit and I have some recommendations for you.

The Casio LK220AD (sku 8885646) is a full sized 61 key keyboard. I think this is a great option because of it's price and included lessons. The special feature of this particular keboard are the light up keys that assist in teaching what keys to press while doing the lessons. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8885664&type=product&id=1211455041863

The Korg MicroKORG (sku 8150449) is a 37 key synthesizer. It's a little pricier but I recommend it for it's numerous fun sounds and the ability to manipulate those sounds to create something totally your own. I believe keyboard/synthesizers with less keys are a less intimidating option for younger users. This particular synthesizer will definately be something that can grow with your child if they become interested. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8150449&type=product&id=1214004651247

And my final recommendation for a budding musician is the Korg Kaossilator. We just did a featurette called "Forum Find" on this particular product and you can view it here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZjonoGCbOqc

This a great choice because it's so intuitive anyone can use it. I recommend it because if your child is showing interest in music this is a "toy like" instrument that can really open up the fun side of making music instead of them being discouraged because they can't play right away or they lose interest because lessons are hard work. The downside to this may be if you're more interested in your child learning traditional piano techniques this would not be the best option since it doesn't have keys.http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8889394&st=kaossilator&lp=1&type=product&cp=1&id=12152...

I personally would recommend the Korg Kaossilator for it's ability to inspire non musicians into the possibilties of music but of course the others are great options as well depending on your child's interests and your interests for them with this purchase.

Thank you for posting.
