I am a beginner guitarist, and purchased a Squier Strat Affinity from Best Buy back in November.
I am starting to have problems with the pickup switch (I think its called ... the little switch to the bottom right of the guitar head that allows me to select between pickups being used). When in the furthest down position, the switch isn't activating the pickups so I get no sound. It is fine in all other positions, except when furthest down. I bought the guitar new (selected one boxed vs what was hanging on the wall as that appeared beaten up).
I wasn't offered any warranty product at the time of purchase, and in my own failure forgot to ask being so excited at my new purchase ... but I feel like a brand new guitar (all be it a beginners model) should not be electronically/mechanically failing at this point ....
I am a Reward Silver member and used my card for that, but know I am over the 45 days now for return.
If you could please provide suggestions of what I can do to rememdy this problem - this malfunction shouldn't be occuring on a guitar less than 90 days old right?
Thx

More than likely a wire was poorly soldered to the switch from the factory probably fell off.
Heres a website to find a local service centre. http://www.squierguitars.com/support.php . Should still be under warranty from the manufacturer.

Thanks for that link - it appears there is a 1 year manufactory warranty.
Are none of the Best Buy stores (eg the one where I bought the guitar) approved to fo the repair under the warranty?

I dont think best buy does repairs on these. I would take it directly to one of Fenders authorized shops.

The Best Buy Musical Instrument stores are capable of performing some repairs so you certainly could consult with them to see what they could do and if they could cover it under the the manufacturer's warranty. It's tough to say for sure given that our relationship with each manufacturer is different and the store would need to assess the guitar, but I just wanted to let you know that it is a possibility.
