Gibson has done it again!! After creating a new chapter in guitar history with the Robot Guitar, they have brought the technology to a new level with the Dark Fire. Based off the classic look and beauty of the original Les Paul design that has been rocking the world since the 1950’s, this guitar carries on that tradition with the added bonus of the most advanced guitar technology of today.
This beautiful guitar has a chambered body with a figured maple top, mahogany sides and back, and a fast maple neck with a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard. The finish on this guitar is incredible and must be seen in person to get the full effect. Gibson created the Dark Fire nitrocellulose finish especially for this limited edition run of the guitar. The finish is wonderfully complimented by a double black binding following the guitar body’s curves perfectly. Next are the BurstBucker III and 6 Piezo pickups that are added to this guitar to make it a versatile tone monster. The final touch on this guitar is the classic Gibson flowerpot inlay on the headstock. This same inlay has graced a number of other classic designs by Gibson since 1911 and really ties the history of their instruments together with this breakthrough design.
The Dark Fire also includes the powerhead tuners first introduced with the Robot Guitar capable of 500 preset tunings on the fly. However, they have extended the battery life of the original version to be twice as long. With the Robot technology Gibson has now introduced their new Chameleon Tone Technology with the Dark Fire which allows the guitar to create any tone that you have ever wanted put through an amplifier. Working with the Chameleon Tone Technology is the Robot Interface Pack (RIP) which allows you to connect the Dark Fire guitar to Windows or Mac computers to unleash this monster instrument even further and converts the guitars analog signal to a digital signal. RIP connects to your computer with a single FireWire cable and the computer gives you instant access to countless recording applications and software effects processors, that come with every Dark Fire guitar. These programs give access to hundreds of different guitar effects and amplifiers. Ultimately it’s the classic Gibson build and feel that make this not just a new wave of techy guitar fad but a rock solid instrument.
