Its kind of a long story, but i'll try and make it as short as possible.
I ordered a set of Roland TD-4SX electric drums recently. For the purchase I used various types of Best Buy currency (reward zone certs, BBY giftcards, BBY CC). The website said they had some in stock and that it would leave the warehouse in 0-1 days. After 2 weeks of the same status I called customer care. The rep told me they would launch an investigation and they would contact me via email with their findings in 48 hours. Well I never recieved the email so I called again. The rep this time said that they had found the order and that somehow it got stuck in a "queue" and it had been released for shipping. Supposedly according to the rep the item was to be shipped out the following morning. Great!! The following afternoon I called to verify that it had in fact been shipped that monring. This rep told me "they hadnt got it shipped yet but that it should go out today". Ok, no biggie. The next day I log on to the website to check the status completely expecting a tracking number.... STATUS: BACKORDERED.. Again I call a rep and he proceeds to tell me that apparently they could'nt find my product and that if I wanted to I could go ahead and cancel... or just wait. Well the problem with canceling is I have used various types of BBY currency... and Musicians Friend doesn't accept my BBY CC. So now I'm in a bind.
I have been keeping up with the new products that Roland has rolled out. Now I know that at NAMM they announced the replacement for the TD-4SX... the TD-4KX2. Which means that Roland is no longer making the TD-4SX. Which also means that they won't have any to ship Best Buy. Which ultimately means... Best Buy will not be able to fulfill my order.
I guess my ultimate question is... What now? Will Best Buy carry this new TD-4KX2 set?

Man, I'm sorry to hear about the hassle you went through on that order. It sounds like you caught us at just the right time where the entire inventory was allocated for and we were inte the process of ordering more.
Well, what I can tell you is that we are still planning to carry that TD-4SX model for a while. Roland may be coming out with a newer model but that doesn't always mean we'll carry it right away or stop selling the earlier model immediately. I see that you cancelled your order but you certainly could keep an eye on BestBuy.com for the TD-4SX to come off "Backordered" status so you can use your various forms of Best Buy tender on it. I apologize because I don't have a projected time when that will happen but it looks like we do have our order for more out now.

I went thru the exact same hassle with my order for the same Roland drum set, I originaly ordered it in Jan finally canceled it on Feb 21st after continually being told it would ship the next day. I then ordered it from our local store because they told me it was in the warehouse, the next day I get an email that it is backordered.

I'm sorry about that, timhane. I can certainly understand both of your frustration. No doubt it was upsetting to take the time to see the order through and still not get it. We must have under anticipated the demand but I do know that we plan to get more in stock.

I didnt cancel the order, on the off chance that you guys get some in. I just saw on several websites that they had discontinued the model and was replaced by the TD-4KX2. I do hope you guys will get some in to fill my order and will keep my order in place until you guys say otherwise. I do find it funny that you guys run a sale on a product you don't even have in stock.

I didn't catch this at first because your email pulls up a different Reward Zone account than was attached to the order but the order was in fact cancelled on 2/10 and the points for the certificates that were used have since been returned. Also, the authorization on the credit card for the remainder of the kit was removed and the all of the gift cards were fully redeemed on the other items on that order.
I believe you should have received an email notification of the cancellation so I'm not sure what happened there. Nevertheless, I apologize for the confusion and I am going to send you a private message to discuss the matter further. It appears that Best Buy will be carrying the new TD-4KX2. I assume it's safe to cancel my order and wait until you guys start shipping this?
