Animated films have really come a long way in the last 10-15 years, with more major companies producing them and famous actors/actresses doing voice work. What's your favorite and why?

There are so many favorites to chose from. The most recent animated movie that I loved was "Wall-E". It was very appealing to both myself, my husband and our 9 year old. It was weird though, because there was literally maybe 10 minutes of dialogue in the entire movie, yet it was so touching!
Some of the other favorites that I have are the "Shrek" movies. I find them to be hilarious! Who doesn't love Donkey and Shrek?? "Cars" was very good also. One of the most lovely mixture movies I have seen lately was "Enchanted" with Amy Adams and Patrick Dempsey. It was funny, and there was a good moral to the story.
Going back in time though, one of my all time favorites is "Anastasia" which is voiced by Meg Ryan and John Cusack. The music is spectacular and the settings breathtaking.
So I guess I see too many kiddy movies, but hey, that's what happens when you have children!!

The Incredibles reminds me of the cult classic The Specials. While not an animated movie, it has a few similar themes. It is about the less glamorous side of the superhero's life. It's funny.

Hello!
When I read this question I immediately knew what my answer was… Toy Story! I know this movie is a little bit older now (it was actually the first feature-length film animated entirely by computer) but both of my boys LOVED it so much from about the ages of 3 and 6, and both went through this super cute “Toy Story phase” of wanting to dress up in the like Woody (the cowboy). My oldest son even had a pair of “Woody” cowboy boots that he insisted on wearing everywhere and got several smiles for out in public J
Toy Story is full of heart and humor and I would highly recommend it to anyone that hasn’t seen it yet!! Toy Story 2 is really good too!
Have fun!

What about Japanese Anime?
Best Buy sells these, maybe we need our own board category on it.

Well, now that you mention it hockeycanuckjc, I've always really liked Ghost in the Shell. It's just wierd enough to keep my interest. My personal favorite though is more of a TV series than a movie: Escaflowne. It's got a decent story behind it, despite being bogged down with a cheesy teenage romance and giant armored suits!

While in my local bestbuy I was looking for a Japanese animated film and stopped to ask an associate for help. The associate struck up a conversation about the selection available and the comments left about it. The associate asked what he could do to broaden their selection. I gave him a small list and hopefully now I can compile a better list for him with the help of my friends viewing habits. If anyone in my area has some requests to put on the list please let me know.
