Upgrade and Save.. Good luck getting Best Buy to honor

Waited in line 15 minutes, typical but no biggie, then when i showed her the DVD's and asked about the promotion, she looked at me like a deer in headlights and said she had to ask a manager because she didnt know about it. So I wait a few minutes and she comes back with.... I need to trade in recycled stuff like old cell phones, tvs, and computers.... I smiled and asked if she was serious. She was. So I left and grabbed their ad. Its pretty cut and dry in the ad. Bring in your DVDs and get a 5$ off coupon. So i asked the dude who watches the camera at the front, if i could talk to a manager. So the manager shows up and goes into the old computers and tvs spill. I read the ad again in front of her and I feel like im in some candid camera show. Where the heck are you getting trade in tvs, computers out of old dvds? So she leaves for another 10 minutes or so and comes back with her cold attitude and hands me the coupons liek she just did me a favor. So after 30 mins I finally get them. At Least no additional problem at the checkout which was a plus. Picked up cowboyos and aliens and Planet of the Apes. The dvds I traded in were crappy coming attraction type dvds that best buy used to give away. I feel the need to cuss out corporate. We shouldnt have to fight them over their own ad.  Why does Best Buy continue to fight you every step of the way, and when you call customer service there just as incompetent.  I dont want to see anyone loose their jobs, but best buy will close eventually, sooner than later over continued failures.  Anyone else have to argue and jump through hoops to get them to honor their own promotion?  I have ready dozens of horror stories on a site i visit already.

Check the post under yours and see the Moderators canned nonresponse.  I suspect I'm in the same forum (doesn't matter which since I probably hang out in most of them)

and the horror stories from before 3 pm were non stop and though they have slowed some it's still a very ugly set of posts.

I'm trying to be nice and get Best Buy folks to understand what a problem it is when they don't even let their stores know what promotions are coming up.

I  don't understand why they wish to make the groups of folks who buy large amounts of Blurays so angry and then act like it's no big deal.     Yes it's Sunday, but

that the day sales start on and what happens when a month long sale like this gets off to a horrendous start and word of mouth kills it before it has a chance to spread.

My third time through the promotion and it's happened each time so I tried this morning to get some help from the Forum Mods who generally seem to pretty much

on the customers side.

Re: Upgrade and Save.. Good luck getting Best Buy to honor

Hello sixthnewkid,

Thank you for your interest in our current Upgrade & Save promotion.  You can find some additional information on our site here, http://bbyurl.us/Up&SaveCoupon and on the term and conditions of the promotion here, http://bbyurl.us/Up&Saveterms.

Per the terms and conditions, you were correct and should have been able to bring in your original DVDs with the original case to Customer Service and receive a $5-off coupon valid on ANY Blu-ray movie priced $9.99 and up (valid 1/8/12–1/28/12).  Burned copies and adult content DVDs are not accepted.

I apologize for any confusion or misinformation given at the store and I regret that you have been left with this impression.  I was able to locate what appears to be your purchase of Cowboyos and Aliens and Planet of the Apes; I hope you are enjoying your new movies!  Please know that I will be fully documenting your feedback so the upper management of the Roseville, Best Buy will be able to fully address these concerns within their location.

I greatly appreciate all of your time!

What's really sad here is that all companies are like this. You would think that it would be a requirement for every employee to be at least vaguely familiar with their current ad but it isn't. Go anywhere (Grocery Store,Auto Parts,Office Supply etc etc etc). The employees seem to NEVER have read their own current ad!!!!! They just don't care.
