I received a text that said I had won a gift card from Best Buy and for me to enter a number in my phone to get the card. Is it the truth or just a hoax?

I got one today that is a scam and I wanted to report it to you. It came from 13479277411 and it said "You have been randomly selected for a BestBuy gift. Get your $1000 gift card now www.bestbuy.com.todayswinners.info/?id=rfrkwyhfrr" And the only way I realized that it was a scam was because my anti-virus AVG kicked in and threw up a big WARNING! I hope you get these guys before they do real damage to others that might not have a good anti-virus program. Good luck!

Now a days these type of messages are very common, its better to just ignore it, I had got a message that my mobile number was randomly selected for $500000.00, to claim this amount they asked my full bank details(including confidential information too).

Sadly this is so true...
For some of us who are not on text message plans, you can contact your cell provider. Some cell providers have text message SPAM filter programs (7726).

I got a similar one from 540-406-2637. The URL wasn't even bestbuy, it was www.bestbuy.com.wbit.biz/?claimid-112. I looked online first and found the number and website on a watchdog list. This needs to stop! I saw that many people have gotten the exact same text from different numbers, all with the same fake website!

Hello all,
We've had a pretty big uptick in reports of text scams. Please be careful with your information and, as xl suggested, report the texts to your respective mobile providers. That will help mobile providers identify the problem and do what they can to keep it under control.
Cheers,
