Re: iPhone 4S pre-order

I went back and read it again... I guess I get it now..  Preorders were given no preference, however from what I understand, Apple did this two. There was an allotment of phones for the stores on launch day and certain phones that went to preorders.  Not all preorders were filled on day one and apple still had phones in their store... right?

Sorry for the douche comment... and sorry for jumping into this late.

Re: iPhone 4S pre-order

I'm in for the long haul... Best Buy needs to step up and get it going. I talked to a friend who works with a small retailer associated with Sprint... I told him about the dilemma in the Pacifc Northwest with not a single store getting a Sprint iPhone. I asked about capacity to deliver 32g and 64g. He laughed and said how fast you want them? "Let me check inventory... 64g... Hmm... We can take 1,992 orders for them." That's half of the total Sprint phones received by Best Buy in total... 16g, 32g, & 64g! C'mon Best Buy you need to pull your boot straps up and get orders filled! You may not have total control... But not a single Sprint phone anywhere in the northwest? Really?

Re: iPhone 4S pre-order

" Preorders were given no preference, ..."
__________________________________________
This issue has much more to do with Best Buy intentionally misleading customers into believing the iPhone would be available for pre-orders on launch day. For instance, I was first in line for pre-order, but got nothing on launch, and then was repeatedly told that the iPhone would be available within hours, then days, then 21 days. Here is a short video on the issue:

http://www.king5.com/video/featured-videos/iPhone-4S-Best-Buy-fumbles-some-pre-orders-132205113.html

Best Buy lied about having availability until just very recently. This was done intentionally to retain as many pre-orders as possible.

Re: iPhone 4S pre-order

OK, I do have to clarify something, we ordered two iPhones, one 16 and one 32, and Best Buy did deliver the 16 on launch day. In fact, the girl called us the night before, and when I asked her about the 32, she said that all they got were black ATT 16's, and only 40 of them. My 32 has yet to be seen.

But I'm beginning to suspect that Apple may be at fault, especially with what's happened since launch day. If you can call Apple the night before and pick up one the next day at one of their stores, why can't they deliver phones to the stores? BB employees have been saying since launch day that they have never had any idea what's coming in, that they come from Apple and they don't use delivery services but their own transportation (at least at my location). I've called them every day since then, and also talked to customer service yesterday (about those emails that came in over the weekend), and they said they've had the phones on order waiting for Apple to deliver them. I'm beginning to think Apple's wiating until the rush at their stores dies down before they "rush" to fill BB's orders, to cover their own butts.

And obviously this means that Apple doesn't like BB. Radio Shack has no problems, and all the phone companies have been able to deliver them too.

BTW, also speaking to BB yesterday, they told me the "unavailable to ship" email was a mistake, that was meant for a few people and it got sent to "a few hundred" as it was told to me. I was told to disregard the mail. And, I got confirmation that the "21 days" was from the day I recieved the email.

Finally, for the record, I will not order pre-order from BB again, unless they bend over backwards to make up for this, which obviously isn't happening.

Re: iPhone 4S pre-order

I have to agree when it comes to Apple. I am a longtime "Mac person" and I love the products, but they have real "control issues" and sometimes they have difficulty "playing well with other big businesses."

Back in the day, every time I moved to a new town I had to drudge around looking for an "Apple Authorized Dealer" whenever I needed something. Software often didn't work with my Mac and I had to wade through various third-party solutions to get Palm Pilot, then various cell phones to sync.

Finally they come out with an iPhone and it's only on AT&T, which would have cost me more and given me worse coverage. I didn't buy one. Meanwhile Google solved my syncing problems with gmail and calendar.

But finally, I was going to be able to teach my Friday morning class and saunter around the corner to the conveniently-located Best Buy and pre-order an inexpensive 16 GB White iPhone that would work perfectly with my Mac. I put the purchase on my interest-free Best Buy card and pay it off quickly.

I should have known it was all just a dream.

I actually pre-ordered because I lost my phone and not because I just had to have the latest thing on the first day it arrived. Maybe I should just get an Android.

Re: iPhone 4S pre-order

Called Best Buy today to inquire about inventory... they said that they are finally starting to consistantly get phones on a daily basis but it's a VERY slow trickle.  I asked about my status and I was told that they can't give me an extimate on an ETA.  I appreciate their honesty.  Ran by a Sprint store(lady that helped me claimed it is the busiest sprint store in the country) to see if I could order one.  Even better, they had the 64G in stock so an hr later I walked out with one.  She said they have had the 64G iphones pretty much since day one.

Went to Best Buy to cancel my preorder and was given my $50 back without any questions.  Gentleman helping me was very polite and apologized about the long wait time.

Re: iPhone 4S pre-order

Another update. So know I pre ordered the iPhone 4S Verizon Black 32gb on the 7th (18 days ago) and still have not received it. As I have read the FAQs posted in the Mobile Phones & Mobile Broadband forums ALL first available stock will be used to fulfill pre orders. Yet there is still phones online for purchase of the one I pre ordered also know there is a store about three hours away in Raleigh, NC has the phone sitting in stock for purchase by anyone.

GREAT CUSTOMER SERVICE BEST BUY! NOT!!!

Re: iPhone 4S pre-order

I just called the Fair Oaks Mall store and they claim they seen that some 64G black iPhone 4S is to be shipped their direction November 1. Now I am not getting my hopes up, because one thing I have learned about Best Buy is you can not count on them to get anything in demand on time. I still think whoever was in charge of this Pre-order marketing deal should apologize to the Pre-order customers.

Re: iPhone 4S pre-order

I just checked the website and low and behold another store had my model! So quickly I called them up and wouldn't you know, they won't part with it, as they are fulfilling pre-orders first. Begging didn't help (I tried), so back to square one.
