As of right now, no. The only way to get an iphone is to sign up with a 2 year contract with AT&T. As far as plans go, they're priced anywhere from $69.99 per month $129.99 per month.
The basic $69.99 includes 450 anytime minutes, 5000 nights and weekends, unlimited mobile to mobile minutes, includes rollover minutes and the unlimited data plan that is required for the iphone.
The next plan available is $89.99 for 900 minutes, unlimited nights and weekends, mobile to mobile, and includes rollover minutes as well as the data plan.
$109.99 will get you 1350 anytime minutes, unlimited mobile to mobile and nights and weekends, rollover minutes and the data plan.
For a cool $129.99 you can get unlimited minutes plus the unlimited data.
Now, each of these plans do not include text messaging. Those plans come in 3 options: $5 for 200 messages a month, $15 for 1500 messages a month, and $20 for unlimited messages a month.
Hope this helps deciding on getting an iphone. Like I said, at this time, the only way to get an iphone is with a 2 year contract and a plan.

You can if you buy outside of the US like in Asia I think. But the problem you will be having is connection when you are here in the US in which you really need plan or registration with any telephone company and here, AT&T is better known.

Can someone tell me the differences in a iphone and a ipod?
The iPhone is a cellular phone/MP3 player and iPod is just a MP3 player
