I thought best buy was a reputable company that actually valued their customers. Guess not. I have been douped into thinking that my preoorder might actually be filled. I just lost all faith in this company and will not shop with them again.

What can Best Buy say short of the updates that are stickied at the top of this forum? Seriously, what can they say short of "HEY EVERYONE! APPLE MAGICALLY SHIPPED US 5 MILLION OF EVERY MODEL/CARRIER OF THE IPHONE 4S! ALL YOUR IPHONES ARE IN! COME AND GET THEM WHILE THEY ARE COOL!!" that will not be met with disdain and skepticism? I have somewhat refrained from posting on this specific forum because 1) I just remembered a lesson I learned when working at Best Buy: some people cannot be reasoned with. 2) It's so much more fun to sit back and watch as people come up with wild speculations and stew in their own frustration and anger.
Btw, if you guys really want an iPhone 4S that badly, I am selling the upgrade kit. You need to have the original iPhone 4 though but my upgrade kit will take care of the rest.

In all honesty, I don't think this is a case of Best Buy not caring per say. I agree with CrimsonRain in ONLY that there is nothing they can really say. There is no damage control being done and it's now too late for that. The issue here is not just that they they loosely "promised" something and did not deliver. The issue is complete mis-management from top to bottom and from beginning to end. They learned NOTHING over the years of Apple product release events. They call it a pre-order when they have no product promised to them. In my personal experience, they called me (and others at my particular store) the day before they actually received units and said they would be ready to be picked up the next day. I only received one of the two that we had reserved. Then the person waiting on me could offer up NO reason for only having one phone for me. I went to customer service and asked for the manager who gave me a "missing shipment from China" excuse and that there would be an emergency shipment the next day. This was obviously not true. I cannot really blame this girl because this is Best Buy's corporate responsbility to train their employees from top to bottom and provide them with proper information and not hang them out to dry as they did and continue to do. I blame myself as I was annoyed with the process when I bought my iPad through them and acutually trusted them to figure it out 6 months later. It's no wonder Best Buy is struggling and this will NOT help their cause. I learned my lesson. I just hope BB will learn something from all of this as well before it's too late for them.

Just stopped by Sprint store to ask questions, they had them, so I got one. Finally gave up, but had to get it by tomorrow at the latest or would fall into the crack of billing cycle problem, where they prorate, and you get this huge bill the next month. Sorry Best Buy I waited until after the 31st, holding out hope for you guys, but when I called today and you still didn't have a clue, I gave up.
On the bright side, I think I'm really gonna love this phone! Yippee!

Gave up, I called my local store and there now blaming this whole thing on apple, they say apple controls there inventory on the iPhone and that apple is not sending them phones. Baloney!!!!!!! What corporation does anyone know that would allow another company to take control of there inventory. Only a really stupid one. What a shallow excuse. And an excuse that does not hold water. I went to apples website friday night reserved the phone I wanted and purchased it yesterday at the local store no hassle it was there as expected. Unlike best buy corporate who couldnt tie there own shoelaces without making a mistake.
IM DONE WITH BEST BYE!
