i found a phone that does not use sim cards and the previous owner cancels his service because he lost his phone.

so can i put a new service on the phone if i call the phone company and use it or is the phone is useless?

If it is for Sprint or Verizon then there is no way to do it, unless you can change the MEID, but that is illegal and you could get in big trouble for doing it. By the way what phone did u find?

phone i found was a lg-vx9200m

That is a Verizon phone and it will not work if it has been reported lost or stolen by the owner.

You would have to call or go by a Verizon store to get it activated. How do you know it has not been reported lost or stolen?
