Verizon Wireless Upgrade

When I sign in to my Verizon Wireless account, it says that my phone is eligible for an upgrade with a discount.  When I check that same phone number on Best Buy's Mobile Upgrade Checker, it says that I cannot upgrade until 8/13/12.  Can anybody explain?

You are eligible for an early discount through verizon but not fully eligible for upgrade until august so you can't do the upgrade through anyone but verizon until august.
