I ordered a Samsung Galaxy SII for t-mobile inside a best buy store Friday night (14th). I paid for expedited shipping which I was told takes 1-2 days as opposed to regular shipping 2-5 days. I was told that I'd definitely get my phone by Monday. Then the sales person said again it would be no later than Monday.
I didn't get my Samsung today (Monday), so I called best buy and was told the phone would be delivered to me by Wednesday since I ordered on Friday night. I asked if the phone was back ordered or something like that and was told no, they're in stock. I see online that the phone is out of stock online, so now I'm more confused.
Reading about the terrible communication and delays with all those iPhones has made me paranoid. I want my Samsung and don't understand why it hasn't shipped yet if it is indeed in stock and since I paid extra for faster shipping.
I asked if I'd be refunded for the extra shipping charge and they acted like I didn't know what I was talking about. I'll deal with the shipping issue when I get the phone, but in the meantime, What to believe? I have a weird feeling that there are no SGS2s in stock--they probably haven't gotten them yet but are selling them as if they have them on hand already.
Solved! Go to Solution.

LOL!! I was in the midst of quite a few iPhone pre-orderers and walk-ins on Friday night. Hey, I used to be a total and borderline ridiculous MacAddict. I didn't want to hear anything about PC this or that and was quite arrogant about it. I've gone rogue and learned to branch out a bit but was really tempted to get the 4S, then decided to go with the Samsung--never owned anything by samsung so I'm really broadening my world outlook. Hope all you folks get your iPhones sooner as opposed to later!

Hi, Dan:
Perhaps I should be flogged for not believing in Best Buy for a day or so. I just got my Samsung Galaxy SII a day earlier than what they told me, and I couldn't be more delighted. I think my paranoia about not getting my phone was fueled by reading all the iPhone 4S customer complaints. Thanks for the suggestion to call the BB Mobile dept. Maybe I should call and tell them I'm a happy camper!

Veritsca... I completely feel your initial pain. I waited patiently for Best Buy to get the T-Mobile Galaxy S II. I checked the site daily. At first it wasn't even showing up on the BB website at all when it was released. Then the next time I checked it was showing but as "sold out online". I waited a couple of days before checking again. On Tuesday the 18th I checked in the morning and it was still sold out. Then after lunch I checked again (okay I really want this phone) and to my excitement it was "Available". My plans were to trade-in my G2, which was my current phone that I was using as well as a Blackberry Torch. I went in to a BB store to do the trade in and have them order for me. After doing the trade in, which I might mention had gone down about $70 from what I had been told I could get for the phones less than a week before, which is where my distaste for BB began, they then tried to process my order three different times and kept getting some type of error message which the salesperson in the store didn't even understand. An hour and a half later I said forget it, I would do it myself online or call customer service and walked out. I did call customer service as soon as I walked out the door, and after giving the guy the "Error Code" I was told to give him, which he didn't have a clue about, he proceeded to try and process the order himself. After about 30 min. of being on the phone with him and being placed on hold at least 4 times he proceeds to inform me that they are infact "sold out" of the phone once again. What!!! Needless to say I was a little upset... Now stuck using my cheap back-up phone... I explained to him that the website STILL says they have them in stock. It was pointless... So today again I check the website which still says "Available". I decide to try one more time with customer service.. speak with a rep.. same story "sold out"... I ask to speak to a supervisor who informs me that the website it not "real time"... Really!?! He says it's basically a guessing game and they don't know when or if they will get them again and to just keep checking the website.. Seriously??? I don't think so.... So I give up and I am now just going to go ahead and go straight to T-Mobile, pay the extra money and STILL have to spend the giftcard I got for my trade-ins at BB... oh well.. lesson learned. Glad you got your phone though. Enjoy ![]()

MelissaMarie115,
Wow, you've been through a lot. I do recall seeing the SGS2 was soldout online but figured they'd quickly get more in stock. The worst thing about Best Buy is that you can't tell when they're telling the truth or not. I guess that can be said about anywhere in the online retail business where consumers pretty much have to put up with a lot when it comes to backorders and orders that can't be filled quickly. Believe me, I know exactly how you feel even though I didn't have to jump through as many flaming hoops are you've done. Let me know when you get your SGS2--we can compare notes. Here's to your getting it soon!!

Seems to be the issue with the HTC Rhyme. It's been out for more than a month now but all I hear is that they don't know when or if they will get it from veriizon but they claim to be verizon retailers! Everytime I call i get told that they don't have it because it isn't on the website but if the website isn't real time.... then what is the point in the service reps using it as a tool to check inventory? This is really getting frustrating!

Exactly, chrisncarriames,
It doesn't make sense--the soldout online bit and not being able to tell if an item is on its way or not. The trust factor comes into play here, and once a company even seems to be keeping people misinformed is a deal breaker for many. I wonder how many Best Buy customers such as those having problems getting their iPhones have already decided to shop elsewhere even though they preordered their phones. Situation is not good for business at all...
