Returning a prepaid phone.

I purchased a prepaid T-mobile phone. It doesn't get any signal where I work. I tried to return it but was told I couldn't because it had been activated.

What is the Bestbuy policy on returning no contract phones?

Re: Returning a prepaid phone.

Whoever told you this was incorrect. You can return it whether it was activated or not.

If they refuse again, ask them to show you the policy that specifies this. Or try an employee who actually knows correct policy.

Re: Returning a prepaid phone.

They can't return a time card that was purchased and used together but that is the only thing I can think of. The hardware is returnable as long as it is under return policy.

Re: Returning a prepaid phone.

Thanks for your replies. I had emailed BB customer service and the auto-reply said my question would be answered in 2-3 days. That was 4 days ago. The forum answered in hours.:smileyhappy:

I'm off work today on Christmas eve, so I'll try to return it again this morning. I sure don't want to wait till after Christmas.

Re: Returning a prepaid phone.

Another trip to the store and they still refused to take it. The phone comes with 10 mins time and because I activated it and made a call, some of the minutes have been used. The test call I made was about 15 secs long. The employee could not show me any written policy and claimed the regional manager backed up the decision. I'm still stuck with a phone I can't use.

Very frustrating.

Re: Returning a prepaid phone.

I asked because I thought you might've been in Canada.

No manager is allowed to make up policy like that. A Community Connector will be in touch soon. You may want to try another store if there is one near you.

Re: Returning a prepaid phone.

The "Community Connector" has not contacted me, and the 14 day return period is getting close. I need to get this resolved in the next 2 days.

Re: Returning a prepaid phone.

There is no 14 day return period. You have 30 days.
