Topic SOUNDS like a dumb question, but I ask because the BBM rep said he'd "call" when it was available. I had assumed everyone would have it ready on Friday, so I can pick it up and go straight to work. 

Will all stores have it ready by Friday or is this a per-store basis?

Do not go in until you are called and notified that they have one reserved for you. The store may not get enough inventory to fill all preorders. In addition, there could be a delay in shipping.

The phones are first-come first-serve on preorders, so I would encourage you to go in on Friday.  If you have any reservations, definitely call first.  During our iPhone 3gs release, the phones themselves didn't show up until about noon.  As far as the Droids go, if they don't have them first thing Friday morning that shouldn't mean they won't have them at all that day.

I got a nice call from BB today and have a scheduled appointment at 11:30 Friday

They are serious that scheduled customers will go to the front of any line.

Interesting -- nobody had mentioned to me about calling for reservations. From what I can gather, I'm sort of gathering conflicted information. Should I just show up when it opens and wait for one? (First come/first served) Or should I be waiting for a call? (The guy who spoke with me said he'd call, but made no mention of reserving a time slot.)

Different stores do things differently. Some are scheduling appointments, some are just calling customers. Inventory is going to be very, very heavy though.

There was a clear guide on how to proceed with this.  Any stores that aren't setting up appointments should call their pre-orders to set up times.  There was an email sent out about this.

I preordered on Tuesday, but the person who sold me the preorder did not set up an appointment or even take my phone number.  Should I call the store to ask about setting up an appointment, or should I just show up on Friday?

mquinn27 -- You should probably check into that. They definitely took my number. My only concern is that they haven't called me yet...

Yes, I would call your local store when they open, to make sure they have the phones. Sometimes they are shipped via UPS, and might not come in till Friday afternoon (or when UPS delivers to that store). Make sure you tell them that you have pre-ordered, and would like to have a estimate when they will come in.
