In August, I bought my son a phone through BBM at the local mall.  We are all on the AT&T family with 2 iPhones and his samsung smartphone.

Here's the question:  I am paying for insurance for his phone.  Could we purchase insurance for all the phones in the plan even if we didn't buy our iPhones through BBM?

I think they have to be newly purchased to add the insurance, whether from BB or another retailer but someone should be along to clarify shortly.

If you are speaking of the Black Tie Protection plan, you may purchase that for iPhones regardless of where you bought it, within 30 days of purchase. Bring your phones and receipts to any Best Buy Mobile location and they can set you up with the protection.

Remember though.  Black Tie and Applecare and Squaretrade, etc. are NOT insurance.  They do have certain things they will protect for your phone, but if your expectations are that they will replace the phone if it is lost or Stolen, then purchase the insurance from the carrier.
