I recently had a Viper 5901 installed in my wife's 2003 Honday Odyssey. I was disappointed to find out it doesn't operate the power sliding doors, especially in light of the apparent 4 aux outputs.
My questions are: Should it have following the installation?? If not, how can I get it to?? Its kind of ridiculous to expect my wife to carry two fobs, and she's not about to give up the door opening/closing.
In case it matters, it was installed at the Columbia, MD store.
Thanks,
Brian

I would say most likely you had to request it to be hooked up in order for it to work and it may not be possible to hook up, I honestly don't know. It also may require an additional part, not sure on that either though.
I'm assuming you didn't request it, so they just installed the basic setup, and not connected any aux items to it. I had the Viper 5901 installed and it was a basic install, I, just like you assumed they would do the aux items, such as connecting the defroster, etc., but they didn't and I forgot to request it.
As far as what to do, I would suggest contacting the best buy install bay, you had it installed at and see if they can go back in and hook the sliding door feature up and program it on the 5901 key fob in the aux port.
Again, I don't work at best buy, and hopefully one of the techs will comment and give you a more accurate answer. This is just my opinion on the matter.
Hope this helps!

Yes this is possible but in best buy defense it is a about 30 minutes extra work and parts, so you will have to ask for this to be done and will cost extra
the alarm can do this you will need one extra channel from the alarm for each door you will need 2 RELAYS AND 1 611T timer and to be safe also add a diode

Thanks to those who've responded. While not intending to attack anyone for anything, I do find it odd that they didn't give me the option of them installing it, as now I'll probably have to pay an hour or more for the "30 minutes of work" as they'll likely have to pull things apart that were already apart once. I certainly didn't ask for the hood tilt sensor that they told me about, but yet I paid to have it installed. Again, not meant as an attack, but I assume the computer presented them with all the options, not sure why they didn't mention it.
Let's face it, the power sliding doors, while now common place, was a selling point for many an Odyssey purchaser back when my van was new... why wouldn't somone want that capability without carrying an extra fob?? Besides, if the alarm is set and you accidentally use the Honda fob, it sets off the alarm just by unlocking the door, so it behooves me not to carry both.
BEST BUY - If you're reading this, and you are able to install these options, please offer them to the customer to start with. The only thing that bothers me about it is paying extra to have my car ripped apart again for this, and having to wait an hour or more (again) while it gets installed!

Brian

Brian6301,
We do read all the posts, and I'm most certainly disappointed that all these hassles have happened to you. You are right, point well taken, we do need to make sure all options are communicated with our customer from the onset. I don't know where you currently stand on this but if we can offer assistance, please let us know.
Thank you,

Marti,
Thanks for the reply. I'm assuming the issue started when I was talking to the sales person at another BB store about it. I asked if it operated the doors on the van, and he said "yes". I'm assuming at this point he meant the door locks (since he didn't mention any add-ons). When I actually purchased it at the store nearest me, I didn't specifically ask since I thought I knew the answer, and the sales person didn't mention it as an option.
I haven't made it back to my local store to ask, as life's been a little crazy lately. I hope to get there sometime next week.
Regards,
Brian
