Sub and amp installation with stock stereo

I have a 2007 gmc Sierra extended capickup up, I want to add a little extra base to the system but want to keep the stock stereo in place.  I have read about wiring the system with an adaptor from the speaker. Just looking for some suggestions on the best way to go about this and even what hardware I should look into!!

a line out convertor is all that you would need for that setup to get hooked up to a factory head unit.  all you would need after that is an amp kit, amp, and subwoofer.  good luck!
