I've had a Pioneer stereo for about 4 years. I was purchased and installed at Circuit City (r.i.p). About a week ago I left my headlights on and killed my battery (not the first time, probably not the last). Everything is working fine except now my stereo won't power on. Zip, nadda, nothing. The main fuse for the stereo isn't blown, but I understand Pioneer stereos have another fuse on the back of the unit itself?! I can't take a look because the tech at Circuit City installed this thing so tight that you'd need a blowtorch and a sledge hammer to get it out. Seriously, my car has been broken into about 5 times and no one can manage to heist it. It's covered in dents and such from the failed attempts to get it out. I had gotten a full warranty for service/removal/etc. when I bought it, which basically means nothing anymore, right? Can Best Buy help me out here at all or am I S.O.L since Circuit City no longer exists? HELP. ![]()

Hi Mach0006,
Wow...sounds like that deck wasn't exactly made for your car, but nonetheless, it is installed. For life! Yes, we most certainly can help out with this. Just stop in at your nearby Best Buy and talk to the Install Bay techs. They will have a better idea of what's wrong and how to fix it. Let's hope it doesn't involved a sledge hammer and blow torch! Thanks for posting. Let us know what happens...

Did you have the vehicle jump started? It is common when jump starting a vehicle to find that the fuse on the back of the radio blows without blowing any other fuses. I still haven't figured out exactly why, but it happens. What kind of vehicle is it? Some vehicles require that the radio be secured to brackets instead of the cage style mount (meaning that it doesn't just slide out, you have to take a panel or two off and unscrew it) so that might be the reason that it doesn't come out easily. An Autotech should likely be able to track down the issue for you without too much problem. Call or stop in your local store to ask about pricing and to make an appointment.

Thats why I always tell people to turn everything off before jumping the car. Radios usually have a constant power lead that can take the full force of the load from the charging vehicle. Also most people jsut hook jumper cables up battery to battery and not use the ground cable correctly.
