Good day all,

I'm confused by the release date for the new Pioneer headunits.

I currently have a very bad example of technology in my Jeep, the AppRadio 1. I have voiced by displeasure and the gents at the West Simsbury, CT store have jumped through hoops to find a unit that will please me, the consumer who is out $500 with poor equipment.

Everytime I ask about the 2012 Pioneer units, specifically the 4400, at various store in CT and NH, I've been told over and over (in April) "end of the month".... while now, at the end of the month, the units show up in the MOS system or whatever its called, but it says unavailable for order or shipment....bla bla bla.

I'm up against my ability to replace the brick in my truck.

Any insider infor here?

   here in iowa we have all of our new decks and double dins out on display.  since we are in the midwest i would think that the CT store would have their stock also.  All Best Buys should have their stocks in but not 100% sure on that.  The new App Radio 2 is out, but like the first one i woudln't recommend it.  I personally purchased it and returned it about 6 days later, just still has to many bugs in it.  if you like the screen size on it you can check out the Kenwood DDX 719 on best buy.com only a few stores have that one in stock.  I had to drive to the next closest store to get mine since we won't carry that model at my store.  other than that hopefully this might help.... I tried to do a bit of research for you. First thing though, when I typed in Pioneer 4400 into BestBuy.com I received sku 4042109, is that correct? If so then I then clicked the "check store availablity" button and typed in your zip code for West Simsbury, Ct which would be zip code 06092, I believe. A whole list of stores around your area popped up, quite a few of them had the product, and a couple of them did not. All of the stores that say "AVAILABLE NOW" means that the store actually has it in stock and you should be able to go in and pick one up (I would probably recommend calling first just in case though), and then any of the stores that say "SHIPS TO STORE" means that they currently do not have it in stock, but they could order it for you and have it shipped to the store or to your house for free. 

I hope this helps you out. Again, I'm not entirely sure if that was the exact product you were looking for but if it is then I hope this answers your question. I currently work at Best Buy, and I'll be honest, a lot of employees (especially the part-timers, who are hardly ever there) don't know the full inventory of the store. So they may very well have had it, but they just saw it as a "new" product and went on a hunch that they didn't have it if they haven't seen it (very bad work behavior, I know. It bugs the crap out of me when I see my fellow employees do that). But I hope that wasn't the case and the store(s) you went to truly didn't have it.

just make sure that you call the store to make sure that they have it in stock and in their hands so that you don't waste anymore trips searching for it, best buy.com can sometimes not be 100% accurate, so make sure an employee physically picks it for you. good luck.

Can you think of any reason why all the CT stores DON'T have this unit? Could you ship the 4400 double din to the West Simsbury store?

Seems so strange that some BB's have them otheres have never seen them!!

   I've looked everywhere for that dvd player and right now it seems that we (best buy) are waiting to be supplied by pioneer on this.  it just became an active sku for us to carry on 4/22.  the one that i looked up was the 4300, that was my mistake and i apologize, but for this unit you will have to wait on it.  there are some comprable models to this unit.  what is drawing your eye to this unit?  have you looked into the kenwood 719?  i have no idea how far away the Manchester store is to you, but they have 2 of them and it is pretty similar.  i personally just got this unit about 3 days ago and i love it! let me know what you are looking for in the unit and i might be able to find a comprable.  if you are dead set on that unit, start the waiting game lol... sorry!

The Kenwood looks solid enough on Youtube videos....seems like a simple need, but I like the ability to flick and drag my finger through menus in the Ipod part of the iphone. The 4400 looks a little sharper, has the tilt for DVD and CD insert (SD card too) and removeable faceplate, important whne you own a Jeep.

If the SKU has been in since 4/22, what the normal lag for a unit to show up in inventory?

   As far as the sku being in stock from the supply date it is really hard to tell obviously (in your current situation), but i would think that it should have already been in the stores by now, but that is the supply part of pioneer and the contract part of best buy, if you are looking at going with that radio you will have to sit tight unfortunately.  That removable face plate is awesome especially for a jeep you are right! you might even want to look into getting a security system for that vehicle and add on a proximity sensor which will make the alarm go off, or warn away people walking by.  there is a 2 zone threshold that will chirp if someone enters into the first zone (by the car), and will go full alarm when someone reaches a hand into the car (2nd zone).  just make sure you protect your investments in this crazy world we live in! any installer at best buy will have those proximity sensors in stock, they will need to be added on to a viper security system so the cost will be a little more.  this can be added on at any time! good luck i hope everything works out for you!!!

I am also waiting for Best Buy to carry to new Pioneer model DVD receivers. Particularly the new AVH-8400 as it has a removable face plate. It is available on amazon right now but I am waiting for Best Buy to carry it so I can get a protection plan on it. I dont know how much longer I can hold out.
