Thanks to 858_autotech over here in this post I've decided to get either the Sony MEXBT3900U or the JVC KD-R820BT, both of which have most of the features I'm looking for. My question now is about the installation, I'll probably have it done at BestBuy since working on cars does nothing but make me very angry. If I have it done at my local store do I need to purchase anything else, like a mounting kit or anything?
It will be going in my 2010 corolla and there is a lot of space taken up by the existing radio that would not be with either of these. I assume something is needed to make it look nice but I dont know if that is included or not. Another question, if I get the JVC unit (that comes with an external mic) or the add -on external mic for the Sony will they install that as well (or at the very least plug it into the back of the unit and let it hang out so I can route it later)?
Thanks again in advance!

Me again.....I fear that there is only a few of us that post over here. We have three listings for a 2010 Corolla so it might depend on what you have:
Black dash
DASH KIT : TA2101B
WIRE HARNESS : 70-1761
Dark Gray dash
DASH KIT : TA2101DGB
WIRE HARNESS : 70-1761
JBL
DASH KIT : TA2101B (It lists the black kit, but it might have been possible to have JBL with the dark gray dash)
WIRE HARNESS : TA07SR
The harnesses listed are typically stocked in the bay, but I believe those kits are mostly special order parts. As for the mic, it usually isn't a problem for the Autotech to run it during the install. You definitely want to call your local store to find out which parts they have and which you need to order, as well as pricing information for the install (make sure you ask about any additional for running the mic) and possibly an appointment time.

Perfect, thanks again!!
So the wiring harness that comes with the radio will not work? Just trying to estimate all the costs involved ![]()

Ah...common question. The harness that comes with the radio fits only the radio and has bare wires on one end. The bare wire end gets wired to the harness that is specific to the vehicle (that is what makes the radios themselves "universal") and that creates a full plug that makes it so that cutting/splicing into your vehicle's wires isn't required. There are some situations that still require cutting/splicing but that is uncommon.

Great, thanks so much for your help these last 2 days. I need to call the store now and get approval from my boss (wife) and I'll be all set!

No problem! I know that I love my BT unit and my wife can't seem to stop using hers... ![]()
