Factory Radios and Removing the Heating Control Knobs

Okay then, I got the stereo and dash kit I need. I will attempt to install myself but I am thinking I am in over my head here. The factory radio I have now has built in heater controls, I have a Ford Escort. My question is how do you pull out the 3 knobs that are for the heating and cooling?

Re: Factory Radios and Removing the Heating Control Knobs

nds76,

Unfortunately as an autotech we aren't allowed to disclose any of the information on how to install, liability, and conflict of interest since we do the installs in store.  for that vehicle it can be very difficult especially if you have never worked on one in your life.  i would recommend going to your local shop and having them install it.  the great thing about having us do it is that you wil have a lifetime warranty on the workmanship, and since this is your car and you drive it everyday (im assuming) you don't want anything broken.  ill let you in on a secret that will hopefully get you to bring in the installation to a best buy installer.... the radio isn't in the front it is in the trunk.  there is alot of work that needs to be done, but almost every installer that i know can get that vehicle done in less than an hour.  take it in, save yourself the trouble, spend a few dollars to get it professionally done!!!  contact your local best buy installation bay for a quote. good luck!!!

I am a Geek Squad installer tech lead, but my views that i post are my own and not that of best buy. if you like my posts give me some kudos, if you need further help contact your local Geek Squad installation bay!
